The Mama of guitar multi effects!!!
Review of Zoom G9.2tt by monsieur.Joda

Advantages: fun to use, really nice sounds
Disadvantages: so many things... can be confusing sometimes...

...to upgrade it to a Zoom GFX-5. I kept the Zoom GFX5 for about 6 months, and then upgraded to the G9. I just fell in love with the unit. First, (I know it is lame) it looks really cool. Then I read many reviews about it on various websites, and the specs looked really good, and also it sounded like it was really easy to get a nice sound. With my years of struggle to get a sound I like, I felt really attracted to this unit. They also upgraded the ...
...supply (that is new for Zoom to do that) - Programs: You also get the program Cubase LE, but surprisingly no USB cable. - Manuals, and quick guide (with details of the amp simulations) THE SOUND ******************* Well. That is where it shines. This unit is HIGHLY tweakable. You can change almost everything. Every effect is tweakable to the extreme. So you can get the sound you are looking for with a bit of work. The amplifier simulations ... Read review

"The Equalizer"
Review of Boss Equilizer GE 7 by richard_richard

Advantages: Good sound, flexibility, reliable
Disadvantages: Almost too much to fiddle around with!

Boss have been producing good quality guitar pedals for many years now and are probably the best know name in guitar pedal manufacture. The pedal I am reviewing here is the GE-7 Equaliser pedal. I purchased this pedal a second hand about four years ago and I paid £49 for it. Out of interest, this particular pedal is an earlier Boss Japanese model. These are regarded by many as better quality than the newer models which are now made in Taiwan. Construction ...
...with the other single function Boss pedals I have the sound effect is pleasingly warm which doesn’t mess up your guitar tone. You can alter the sound frequencies over a wide range, which I imagine have been specifically chosen by Boss to match the frequencies that the electric guitar produces. The frequencies available to be adjusted from lowest to highest are, 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1,6kHz, 3.2kHz and 6.4kHz. Each slider has a boost/cut of ... Read review

Guitarport, be an easy bedroom rockstar
Review of Line 6 Guitarport by Chopeh

Advantages: Price, PC Recording, Many Tones, Intuitive Software.
Disadvantages: Can't use it on stage! (Well, not easily)

...more mic-ing damn amps and hearing your brother talking in the background of the best damn solo you've ever recorded. The bottom line is, if you want to sound like your guitar heroes, without splashing out on the £2000 amp and the £200 pedals, you can, in your bedroom. ... Read review

Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Pedal - 2 for one!
Review of Boss Over Drive/Distortion OS 2 by monkeybutler100

Advantages: Wide range of tones, 2 pedals in one, solid as a rock
Disadvantages: Overdrive could be better

...As the name suggest, this Boss pedal gives you both overdrive AND distortion. You have 4 knobs to play with - volume, tone, gain, and overdrive/distortion. The first 3 of those are found on virtually every pedal in history, so I shan't explain those. The overdrive/distortion (O/D) is quite cool though. Turn it fully anti clockwise, and you get pure overdrive. All the way clockwise gives you pure distortion, and setting it to anywhere in the middle ...
...- very much like the Boss DS-1 in tone, it will suit just about anything you want to play that needs some real noise. With the gain turned all the way up, its a beast of a sound. Rating - Excellent. The overdrive by itself though is a little disappointing - it just lacks depth, warmth, and sounds a little artificial. If it wasnt a Boss, I would have expected that type of sound, but since it comes from one of the best pedal makers in he market, I ... Read review

Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9
Review of Ibanez Tube Screamer TS 9 by 01GrahJ

Advantages: Beautiful creamy overdrive, well built
Disadvantages: None whatsoever!

I am using the Tube Screamer with a Gordon Smith SG2 (great guitar) and a 65 watt Marshall JTM60 valve combo amp. With the TS9 on, I'm able to play great sustaining solos, and crunchy riffs, which sound better than they ever did before with only my amps built-in distortion. If you want a lots of distortion, then you can put the drive knob all the way up, but don't forget that the TS9 is an overdrive pedal, and sounds best when the drive knob is put ...
...rock sound, excellent for solos. I'd suggest you use it with and AC adaptor, as you never know when batteries are going to fail on you! If you're after a good pedal to give you some slight overdrive to your clean sound, this will do the trick. This is a great pedal. It doesn't suck tone and the overdriven sound is fantastic. If you need a booster pedal for your current high gain sound, then this is an awesome pedal to get. It's no wonder why the ... Read review
