I recently opened an "internet only" Egg savings account due to the 6.3% p.a. return beingf offered on balances of £1+.
I was slightly worried about the level of service I would receive following the adverse publicity in the press recently but was pleasantly surprised.
The account was extremely easy to open via the internet and the necessary forms arrived by post within a couple of working days. All my details were pre=printed and all that was required was a signature!
Once the forms were returned the account was up and running very quickly. I also received a customer satisfaction survey requesting comment on the service I received.
One of the best features of the account is that you can initiate both deposits and withdrawals directly from the Egg site if you set up a direct debit mandate for your current account. Many other internet savings accounts only permit you to make withdrawals using their system - deposits must be initiated from your current account provider which causes extra administrative difficulties.
Interest is credited monthly or annually, whichever you prefer and on-line statements are available at all times.
All in all I am extremely pleased with the account and have no hesitation in recommending it.
