I searched for ages to find a savings account which offered decent interest rates, reputable company and most importantly, good customer service. I found that the Egg Internet savings account had a good rate of interest compared to most high street banks and I decided to apply online and go for it! Applying was really easy and my information pack came through the post within days. The pack included step by step instructions on how to use my internet account. At first I was a bit dubious because it's an internet account and I was worried about not being able to access my money very easily. The egg information pack explained everything with very clear, precise instructions on how to transfer money from any bank account to your egg savings account. The website is fantastic and very easy to use. It asks you about 6 security questions every time you want to access it, but it makes you feel more secure knowing that all these questions have to be answered in order to access your account online. The website allows you to view statements, update address details, keep an address book of bank accounts, make credit/debit card payment to your egg account and also transfer money from your egg account to your current account. You can also make payments to other people's account. Another benefit is that you can set up a direct debit online to make regular payments each month into your savings account. Egg constantly keep me up to date with other offers in their company and I receive regular newsletters via e-mail. My statements are sent out annually. As I've already mentioned I was a bit weary of the internet account as you can't just go into a branch and draw money out. But having had the account for over a year now, I actually prefer being the one completely in control of my account, being able to access all my details and update my account as neccessary. In fact, it's sometimes nice not to have to call up and speak to a person. Everything's there in front of you and the website is rarely down. If it does go down, you are informed of this and egg will also e-mail you once it's up and running again. Egg have also started a new thing called Money Manager whereby you can not only view your egg savings accounts, but also any other accounts you have with other banks, including credit card accounts! You can then get an outstanding balance which combines all your accounts together which gives you an idea of the bigger picture. Your accounts combined, yet still kept very much separate! I don't have a bad thing to say about egg. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
