I took out an egg credit card in November 2000, tempted by the promise of 6 months at 2.5% on balance transfers (I was at the time paying the Lloyds TSBstandard rate on Mastercard and something quite ridiculous on my Debenhams store card), and also the promise that if I linked my egg card to my Boots Advantage card, I would get advantage points on everything I spent. (See bootsadvantage.com for the advantage card powered by egg, or egg.com for the plain old egg card).
It's only been two months, but I have to say I'm delighted. I do everything over the net so don't have a box full of paperwork cluttering up my house, and also get a standard rate of 10.9% interest for doing it this way. The Boots Advantage points don't add up to much, but at least they're something.
Egg e-mail me every month to let me know that my latest statement is available on line, then I just log into the secure site to see how much they'll be taking from my bank that period. You can, of course, log in at any time to check your balance, change your payment amount/method, change your personal details etc. Whilst in the secure site, you can take advantage of special offers at egg shops, too, and at the moment egg are guaranteeing to beat your car insurance renewal quote by a tenner, whatever it is!
On the whole, getting into my account is very easy (they have had some trouble with their servers this week but have had the decency to put in a special page explaining this and apologising, instead of letting you just get that all too often seen 'cannot find server' Microsoft error page). I go in either through the bootsadvantage site, or directly to egg themselves, and either way works well.
It's easy to contact egg with any queries/concerns, and they are quick and efficient to respond, so even though it's all done over the net you are not alone if you need help.
I'd recommend the egg credit card to anyone for its ease of use, lack of paperwork and its great introductory offer (apparently it's currently 0% for 6 months on balance transfers) and excellent standard interest rate once your introductory period is up. Cut up your store cards and transfer those balances now!

I have found that the big drawback of the Internet banks is that questions take too long to
get answered via email, and I end up phoning them up - which partly defeats the object.
