I was recently advised that it would be good if I got a credit card - it would give me a credit rating, and as I am a good boy, I won't be building up debts on the card.
I remembered that my sister had got an egg card, so I thought this might be a good idea.
I can't really review the card here, because I haven't got one yet, and there are only 5 minutes of my lunch break left - televison calls!
What I am going to review here is the application process at egg.com.
On Wednesday night, I filled in the online application form. Unfortunatly (probably due to the lack of employment history on my part) they weren't able to tell me whether I had the card then, and they said they would phone if there were any problems. They confirmed phone numbers for 3 periods during the day, so if you know where you are going to be, you can direct the call straight to you - bonza!
There was no phone call on Thursday, and on Wednesday morning, there was an email waiting for me. The email had no personal details (which is always good because of the lack of security in the email system) but it told me to go to the site and enter some personal details. Then the site told me I was successful.
So far this has been a very easy application and very simple. If you pay your credit balance straight away, the lack of fees and low interest rates make this card a good choice! The card also offers cash back on purchases - 1% for high street purchases and 2% for online purchases - all paid in September, so jobs a good'un!
