On completing Egg offers you several quotes, the cheapest at the top. The quote that came back was amazing, but didn't quite match the current quote from Insurance Express (spit). Then you have the opportunity to nip back in and tailor your quote. In this case, we changed the excess which was at £100 to £250 (the same as Insurance Express)

Having experienced Insurance Express (see other op!) this year we decided that nothing on earth would make us go back with them, even if it meant having a higher quote off someone else! (They were that bad folks)...
Started shopping around a month before the insurance was due which was 9th June. We had never bought insurance on-line before. About the same time all the insurance companies (or so it seemed) suddenly realised that Dave's insurance was about to expire and I was bombarded with flyers offering discounted this, that and the other - free no claims stuff - Oh my, gone all faint thinking about it!!! They do go on a bit!
Time was getting short and the leading companies - Direct Line, Churchill, etc. couldn't get a quote low enough that was anything like we had previously paid.

The next stage was to carry on and create a more detailed quote. The on-line quoting system is easy to follow (so I will spare you the details). Nevertheless, I have to say it was intuitive and well planned. I work do Web programming so I can safely say it is good and it is secure.

WOW!!!! The quote was around £20 to £30 lower immediately!!! We now had a very good quote in a short space of time for about £320 for a V Reg Peugoet Meridian... Easy stuff this insurance lark!
Paying? Well - as with most on-line companies you can pay on-line using popular credit or debit cards. A few more details were entered and then DONE!!!
Two or three days later (before the expiry date), the insurance certificate arrived safely and correctly completed. Absolute heaven compared to previous insurance encounters!!! Nothing else to do - all done - finito!
Benefits summary:
1) Easy to use quoting system 2) Tailor your quote to suit 3) See a range of quotes and pick the one you want 4) Secure payment 5) Amazingly quick delivery of certificate
Now that Egg has proven itself (yet again) as being able to beat other leading insurance companies I think we shall stick with them. Being in control of your quote is a great experience (and also you are more likely to get the facts right than by talking to an operator at the end of a phone)...
All I can say is give them a try and see what comes back for your quote. There is no commitment...it is safe...but even better - it is so efficient and cheap - nice one Egg!
Advantages: Cheap, easy to buy Disadvantages: None so far
...for the second year running egg were unbeatable. The first year I choose to insure with them the quote was just under £500 despite all other brokers and direct insurers charging me at least £950! I didn't believe it and actually phoned them up to check the quote and find out what was missing from the cover. Nothing, no huge excess, hire cars and windscreen covered with a small excess.
I don't know how they did it but I bought it before they found ... ...everyone - when I discovered Egg I told all my colleagues, however non of them could get such a big reduction. Why me? - I'm 27, drive and IG8 Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia, have 4 years no claim, live in a fairly high postcode risk (M21), park on the road, 6 points on my licence (made very little difference to the quote) and drive high annual business mileage. I don't know what all this means to an insurance company but somebody is prepared to edge their ...

...asked him if he'd tried Egg and he said, do they do insurance? I thought this was a strange question considering he logs onto their site at least once each day to look at his credit card bill – sucker! Off we went to the Egg site and started filling out the form for a "quick quote". Basically you answer six questions and they give you a rough quote. They keep the number of questions down this low by checking your registration number against ... ...something which I was told would increase the premiums. I would thoroughly recommend the Egg service (it might make my shares go up!). The quotes are great and the forms are quick and simple to fill in online. Advantages: Cheap, good cover with major insurers, easy to use web site Disadvantages: You have to buy online
I have various accounts with Egg (credit card, savings) but never realised how good their insurance deals were until I logged onto their insurance web site. You can only buy Egg insurance online and they act as a broker for all the major insurnace companies.
The web site is easy to use and getting a quote only takes a few minutes. As always I ring around all of the companies listed in the Yellow Pages as I hate spending loads on insurance (in fact ... ...by about £80 was from Egg (and I only drive a small car with 4 years no claims so I'm not a huge risk and to save £80 was definately a huge bonus!).
You have the option whether to save the quote so you can always go back once you have looked elsewhere for quotes. They have saved me money this year and I will certainly check out the price they give me next year. ...

Advantages: Initially competitive Disadvantages: Poor response to telephone queries, poor renewal quote, 364 day cover
...without making a claim, but Egg stands out with it’s poor customer service. I found this out two years ago when I first tried to get a quote. It took a very patient person to get an internet quote from Egg in those days. You would get half way through the quote, and then the web page would freeze, and your details would be lost. Fortunately, at the time, Egg were offering very competitive quotes, and perseverance seemed to be warranted, and indeed ... ...time to renew. Every year Egg forgets that you paid for 365 days insurance, and insists on renewing your insurance a day early. Last year I spent a lot of time, listening to the piped music on hold, as I waited for customer services to assist me. When I finally got through, I explained that my new insurance certificate had been issued with an incorrect start date, and I was promised a new one in the post. It never materialized. More attempts were ...

...what a joy to visit Egg Insurance. I already use Egg and decided to try out their Motor Insurance quote, which more than surprised me. Initially the quick quote system offered me a competitive rate for my renewal, and then suggested I move on to get a confirmed quote, they went through my details and after filling out a very quick and easily navigated set-up, came up with not 1, but 5 quotes, all of which were offered by major Companies through Egg. ... ...providing Motor Insurance for years to come. Advantages: TV advert not as dreadful as some others Disadvantages: expensive
The current AA adverts on the TV give the impression that they'll get you a very competitive quote. Indeed, we are meant to believe that phoning different insurers (or, presumably, using such Web sites) would be a waste of time for busy people.
For Comprehensive (full no claims) with protected-no-claims on a Volvo driven only by a low-risk driver with no bad history, with relatively small differences in policy details, quotes were £315 from EggInsure, £340 from Direct Line and £330 from a Volvo scheme. The going rate for that insurance is fairly clear cut.
The CHEAPEST quote from the AA was £450!! This ridiculous premium was checked by phoning the AA.
Moral: don't be fooled by their TV advert! If like their advert and are going to try the AA, spend a few minutes at (say) the EggInsure and Direct Line sites first, unless you ...

I have held aN Egg savings account and an Egg card for quite a time now and have been very critical about their website. I hadn't logged in for a while but got a pleasant suprise tonight with their newly designed innovative site. The home page gives you a number of options - bank, invest, insure, shop or even an area they call the egg free zone which is a discussion room. The whole thing is very easy to use, you can service your account, check the balance, transfer money in or out, or even compare best buys and product reviews in the shop zone. The pages are layed out in an attractive way and in a strange way you feel better for having visited the site. ...

£50
young driver excess £300
it is important to check these excess amount before buying a policy and in that respect churchill were among the best although egginsurance was slightly better but again not as good on the actual premium.
A problem i have had with other insurance companies in the past is that the renewal premiums are too high in some cases more expensive than the previous years despite no claims. this remains to be seen how good churchill are on this front.
I have recieved good customer service from churchill as i originally opted to pay by installments but found myself in a position to pay the full amount in one lump sum and churchill were more than helpful in arranging this change. also with my policy i recieved a free tax disc holder, something i have never recieved from other insurance companies so i thought that ...
