I have been a customer with Egg now for nearly a year and the service I have received from Egg has been worldclass from day 1.
Egg is an internet bank where all your accounts are view and managed by you over the net.
The account opening is easy and you can apply online through their website at www.egg.com.
You just select the account you want and apply for that account.
Egg offer 24 hour banking and long hours of customer service. The waiting time is short and all operators are very helpful and friendly. The only thing I can complain about was an operator yesturday told me I was over my agreed limit on my card and said my balance was minus. When I checked my account on the website this means I am in credit on my credit card and not debt like a debit card account.
When I applied for my loan yesturday to pay off some existing borrowing. I checked a few sites and Egg was the cheapest. At only 9.9% per anum on a loan of 3000. This is to pay off existing borrowing that exists on a few of my accounts.
I applied for the account over the web yesturday and received a call from them today regarding my application.
The operator was most welcoming and helpful and was very clear with what he was talking to me about and knew what he was saying and if I didn't understand anything he explained it to me in a way I did.
Towards the end of the questioning and checking that my loan was approved my battery power ran out on my phone and I was gutted. As it was on slient due to me being at work and I forgot to switch it on to normal I didn't hear the battery beeping to warn me it was low. I never got a name of who I was speaking to either. I went back to work and he had called me at work and left his name, his phone number and extension.
I then called him back and he was not available. The operator I spoke nto tried him for me but said he was not available and would send him an e-mail. About 20 minutes later he called me and we sorted it out.
The loan was approved and the documents for me to sign are on their way out to me.
I was delighted to know that my loan was approved at such a low interest for the ammount I was borrowing and this will make me better off each month.
I would recomend Egg banking anyday because their rates are great and the service received is worldclass. They also offer a savings account at a whopping 5% interest added per anum.
If you are thinking about getting any form of credit I recomend Egg without a shadow of a doubt.
With a quick turn around on their approvals of accounts and with easy 24 hour access to your accounts why use anyone else.

They keep bombarding me with loan offers - on site and by mail. Their APR keeps climbing and the benefits keep falling - I have also had a number of problems with their customer service department ranging from reneging on the initial agreement of interest free purchases for 6 months and stopping my card after they failed to set up the DD in time - I was in Lanzarote at the time I nearly found myself getting arrested - not impressed.

I recently opened a savings account with them for good interest rates (5% for 6 months, as you say). However, can't say I know much about loan rates but would have thought you'd do much better with a credit card where balance transfers are sometimes as low as 0%. If your existing borrowing is not on credit card, get two. Borrow the money on one to cover your debts, then transfer the balance to the other for low rates. Cunning, eh?

Glad to read you have had a nice experience with Egg. Initially, mine was not too happy (see my opinion on Egg credit card). However, Egg does some very good deals. Good opinion. Cheers.
Advantages: Simple application process. Very flexible personal finance. Low APR Disadvantages: Telesales staff very pushy with the payment protection sales.
