I'm in software development, nothing annoys me more than badly designed Internet sites and poor customer service. Strange how it is always the smaller suppliers that people are happy with, while tearing their hair out when dealing with the big names.

I've been an Egg customer sunce the card was launched and recently wanted to change my direct debit to pay a different amount on the due date. Reading the small print Egg say they need seven (yes, seven!) days notice for this. So I just cancelled the direct debit with bank (days notice required - one) and paid Egg with a debit card. Since then I've had about six text messages and three telephone calls from Egg wanting me to pay them now because I cancelled the DD. I sent them an email explaining why but just got a cut and paste answer, I don't think anybody actually read the eamil at all. I've set up a new DD, but apparently that takes ten (yes, ten!) working days notice! So I'm still getting calls blaiming me for not being able to pay them - wghich I will, but manually.
They really need to get their systems into the 21st century - and it would be nice if the telephones were less abusive, and the operators had actually read my emails before they called - which they hadn't.
All the big credit card operators are just machines these days, but even Egg's machine is hopeless. Go somewhere else if you need to change your monthly payment with less than half a month's notice.

Advantages: Simple application process. Very flexible personal finance. Low APR Disadvantages: Telesales staff very pushy with the payment protection sales.
