Advantages: free boiler cover+2009 price-fix +£80 discount +28day contract Disadvantages: only available to direct debit customers
...premium on the rates that NPOWER charge on their 2009 price freeze , i would recieve me free Boiler cover for a year, i was paying £15.99 per month to British Gas.((315.99X12=£191.88 savings.) on top of that i will also recieve an annual discount of £80(dual fuel bonus), I will not slag off britishgas (i was with them for over 8yrs and my current pricefix just ran out) but the knowledge that the rates on gas and electricity are about to rise significantly ......the deal and can leave NPOWER at any time without any charges if i could find a better deal. The thing i found most interesting was a feedback form that the representative gave me with his id numbers so i could leave direct feedback. that was a plus. it is very important that one remembers that there are numerous options available when switching but one should always ensure that it is based on your usage so always keep your four most resent bills ... ...read the comments on British Gas I no longer feel alone. All comments on the inept call-centre are spot-on. And the huge feeling of frustration at being unable to penetrate their useless systems. I got a letter from Customer Relations requiring me to attend my little used holiday home in Whitstable for a bi-annual meter check. I took this seriously because it was a legal requirement on them to do the check and if I failed to comply they would get ......of 200 miles for a morning appoinment and, but you've guessed already, they didn't turn up. I made a second appointment and, surprise, they didn't turn up. For two whole days out of my life, I claimed for my time and my petrol costs = £620. But of course they offer a 'statutory' £20 per failed visit, which doesn't even cover the many abortive 'phone calls. They have now put a top London legal company on to my case to try to prevent me taking it ... Read review

...suffered at the hands of Scottish Power's appalling customer service. I paid for duel fuel on direct debit no problem for many months. Out of the blue they write me a letter increasing my DD by some £30 monthly, Upon querying this I was told prices had gone up twice in almost as many months. I asked for an explanation, another stroppy customer service rep told me that prices has just gone up generally and told me I was informed of such. I had never ......of suppliers. No apology from Scottish Power, no reimbursment of my charges. Then I received a huge quarterly bill. Upon again querying this I was told that is was excessive and clealy not right and they would look into it. I remained willing to pay the bill of course, but wished to pay the CORRECT bill, not an unreasonable desire - or so I thought. To summarise what were a very frustrating and fruitless following months. Nothing was ever done ... Read review
Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: Customer service is non existant
I was with powergen (now e-on) about 3 years ago. I'm pretty good at keeping an eye on finances and check things like bills and estimates. So when a bill came through suggesting that we triple the amount we pay for gas and electric each month I was understandable suspect! I phoned the customer support center but found they couldn't see a problem. They suggested I took a meter reading at the same time of day for a week and then call back. Even though ......would not recommend powergen to anyone. Possibly the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. If I was writing this a couple of years ago it would have been an even worse report - I was so angry. Time heals and all that... ... Read review

Not only do EDF energy offer great customer service and reasonable rates, they are also the only electricity and gas company that give you nector points, so as your paying your bills in a way you are saving money! When I recived my first EDF energy bill I registed my nector card with the number on the bill and recived 300 ponits straight away!! They also do this great scheme called Reduce reward and what you have to do is submit your meter reading ......much energy you are using, which can help you reduce how much energy you are using, this is a great idea because you can also save money by using less energy! (and you will be doing your bit for the enviroment) Another great part to this aswell is they will give you 250 nector points every time you give them your 3 monthley readings!! and if you manage to reduce energy they give you a further 1000 nector points!!!!!!!!!!!! ...
