Advantages: a multi use camera at half the cost Disadvantages: you do have to be plugged in so cant take it out with you
Long gone are the days when we could leave the front door open anytime of the day, without worrying about our possessions being taken. Now the first things we check before going out are that all the doors and windows have been locked. That is fine for reducing the chance of having the house broken into but what about the outside of your house. When we are tucked up in bed anything could be happening to our cars. Locks and alarms can work for keeping ... ...from damaging the car.
That is why my boyfriend decided to install one of these cameras. There had been some damage done to the car one night and he wanted to keep an eye on what was going on out there. Also find out who was doing it, as other cars had experienced the same thing.

Locks and alarms can work for keeping them out of the car but it doesn’t stop them from damaging the car.
That is why my boyfriend decided to install one of these cameras. There had been some damage done to the car one night and he wanted to keep an eye on what was going on out there. Also find out who was doing it, as other cars had experienced the same thing.
Some people would say that having a surveillance operation going is a bit extreme. No, we haven’t been watching too much big brother. There is no secret plan to watch the comings and goings of the neighbours. It is a small discrete camera, so it doesn’t take up half of your house wall. It is 36mm by 42mm, so will hardly be noticed.
It is a little black curved box with a camera lens in the middle. The camera can move around on the bracket it is connected to, so you can position it at different angles. The view it can take is very wide so you don’t have to focus it in on one small area. The picture it produces is crystal clear, all in colour and with sound aswell. There is a wire of a couple of metres so it can be reached up to the shed or a different part of your garden, if you have a large garden for example.
One area they suggest you use it is in the corner of your door entrance. That way you can also see who is at the door before you open it. That is especially good if you are elderly or just on your own in the house and are nervous about opening the door. These days it is so dangerous to open the door to just anyone. With lots of attacks being carried out by people who barge through the door once it is opened.
Installing the cameras is so easy. All you have to do is decide where you want to put it. Mark out the holes to drill. You will need two holes 8mm and a 12mm hole. That one is to feed the wire back into the house. The 8mm ones are to fix the bracket to the wall. Drill the holes then screw the screws into the wall so the camera is in place. Put a bit of flexible sealant in the 12mm hole so there is a moisture repelling barrier there .Put the supplied raw plugs in.
Connect the scart lead into plug into the scart socket which, is found at the back of your TV. Plug into the plug socket and put the TV on AV channel so the picture is going into the TV. Your picture should appear then. If you want to tape it just follow the procedure you would normally.
Other uses for the video camera are to keep an eye on your children when they are playing in the garden. We all want to know they are safe out there but can’t be watching them every second. They can be left to play in peace while you are getting some aswell. You can sit and watch them from the comfort of your own home. You can watch for them hurting themselves, getting up to no good or every parent’s nightmare. Someone getting in the garden and taking them. No one wants to think about that happening to his or her children but it is happening more and more in society.
The videos of the children can be kept for you to watch over and over again. They can be taken naturally without you having to be there with a camera. The child may do things that wouldn’t normally be captured on video. Their personality can change when they think no one is about. Family videos can be taking. Normally one of you would be missing from them, as they were the ones behind the camera. With this everyone can be in them.
It can be used as a video camera inside the house too. For kid’s parties, Christmas or anytime you want it. All you have to do is find a flat surface for it to stay on. Position it, using guidance from the picture on the TV then you are away. Projects for school can be taken with it, as not everyone is able to get hold of a video recorder for those purposes. Then you don’t have the hassle of transferring them from those little tapes onto proper videotape.
When children are out playing they tend to have accidents. It is only naturally for them to have bumps and bruises. I can’t remember how many times I had cuts on my knees from falling over. However when you take them to the hospital if it is serious, you are put in a position of explaining. As many some children are going there as a subject of abuse, they become suspicious of alot of innocent people. So you, can find out from the video what happened and if you were ever accused of anything you could put your story straight. Hopefully that won’t happen to anyway.
So this camera has so many uses. We got this one from Makro when it was on offer for £25. Previously it had been there for £45, I think, but they seem to come back between those prices at different times. You would never be able to get a camcorder for that price and this can do so many more things. It could also be used for security in a business. Outside the door or inside a shop for CCTV security.
Advantages: Very cheap for what it is. Easy to install and connect Disadvantages: Only B&W picture
The little gadget I'm about to write about could best be described as one of those "I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but at that price, I'll think of something" items. The item in question is the Micromark Camera Observation System. Woolworths currently have it on offer for £24.99, a saving of £5 on the normal price. I have to say that even at the normal price, it seems a reasonably priced bit of kit. OK, I admit it, I bought one, and no, ... ...So just what is it? Essentially, it's a miniature black-and-white TV camera with built-in microphone, with all the necessary power, sound and video connections to allow it to run off the mains and feed into your TV via a spare SCART socket. If your TV doesn't have one of these (it is a long multi-pin socket normally used for connecting VCR and DVD players), you can upgrade the system with the addition of a radio-frequency (RF) modulator, which effectively ...
