Brush for easy application

Ladies picture the scene (and guys……well just imagine real hard!) you've got a special occasion coming up, the outfit is sorted, the hairdresser booked, you've found the perfect shoes and your nails, for once, are all luscious and long….until snap! one of them gets a tear, you don't want to file it short and look uneven but you've also just got them all to that lovely length and had planned the perfect matching nail varnish colour to match that dress, so cutting them all short is not an option. Step up Elegant Touch Brush On Nail Glue from Superdrug.

Elegant Touch brush on nail glue comes in a small white 6ml bottle with a purple unscrew lid, much like traditional nail polishes the nail glue comes with a brush applicator for more accurate application. The quick drying glue is clear meaning it can be applied to nails before or after they've had colour applied and it won't spoil the effect, it dries glossy and most importantly solid, securing the damaged portion of nail. It is suitable for use in repairing natural nails as well as applying artificial nails, although I do not believe it is suitable for acrylics.

The glue is, as far as I'm aware, only available from Superdrug stores and their website www.superdrug.com and costs £3.09 for the 6ml bottle. Also available is the Elegant Touch nail glue in pink, without the brush applicator, for £2.49.

While I've never used the glue for applying false nails I have used it on many occasions when one of my natural nails has become damaged in some way. The brush on applicator means you can more accurately apply the glue, you don't get uneven blobs of glue that wont dry properly or look odd under your colour polish and it means if needed you can cover the whole nail as if you were applying regular nail polish which means the whole nail gets an even look and a little added strength, I imagine this complete and even coverage makes applying false nails quick and easy with no fuss or mess and ensures they're more secure. The brush also makes the glue easily distinguishable from such items as eye drops preventing any confusion and accidents.

When I've used the glue on one of my nails I've always found it quick to apply to the area where it's needed, occasionally the nail will need to be manipulated a little so both edges are bonded properly which I use a cocktail stick or similar object to do. The glue dries quickly, though it's best not to check if it's dried with your finger, and smoothly but occasionally if the nail is a little ragged as a result of the tear a bit of filing is needed, this doesn't effect the strength of the glue in any way however and the bond remains secure. My lifestyle requires me to be very hands on, there's lots of housework to do, gardening to take care of and kids to tend to so I usually get 3-5 days of a secure bond with the glue before the strain takes it's toll and the crack begins to reappear, naturally you'll get longer if you're in less hands on work and the effect will be different for false nails too. All I do when the glue is coming to the end of it's life on my nail is apply another coat and start the process again, I'll repeat this until my nail is at a comfortable level to cut off at which point they're all filed down and I start growing them again.

The glue dries quickly and is very strong so it is essential to make sure it doesn't come into contact with your skin, it's classed as a high irritant so apart from the obvious risks of sticking your bodily parts together you could also have a skin reaction to the glue. I always make sure my glue is on a high shelf so the kids can't get their hands on it, the lid is easy to unscrew and it has an open neck meaning the glue is easy to pour/spill. I recommend you only use the glue for repairs or applying false nails when you've got good time to concentrate properly, just to avoid any mishaps. The glue has quite a potent smell and really should be used in a ventilated area, it reminds me of concentrated chlorine and on occasion makes my eyes water, so it's a good job you only need a little of it to do it's job.

I'm really happy with this nail glue despite the stink and the risk of sticking your thumb to your forehead if you aren't careful. I've used other brands in the past including Nailene but I haven't found them as good, they often have unusual applicators which are awkward when you're trying to apply the glue and usually the lid ends up stuck to the bottle so you've wasted half of the glue purely because you can't get it open, I've also found that they don't last as long as Elegant Touch in regards to how long my nail stays stuck together. You may think that the glue would stick the bristles of the brush together but it seems the makers planned for this possibility, not once have I found the brush ruined or the glue clogged and clumpy.

Overall it's a great product that does what it promises, you can fix natural nails, apply false ones or even use the glue for sticking your nail gems and decals on to create the finished look, just be sure to use it carefully and please keep it out of harms way.

Great review. I am going to go get a bottle of this as I usually get the nailene and the lid gets stuck after a few uses which really annoys me, thanks!
