Advantages Great for removing false nails and standard nail polish

Disadvantages Could be too strong for brittle nails.

~ Elegant Touch ~

A wide range of nail care products are available from this brand which can be found in Superdrug and Boots etc.The following nail varnish removers are available:

~ Price ~I bought my 200ml bottle a year ago in Superdrug and it was just under £2. I've had a look around and they now range from £1.95 to approx £2.20

~ Packaging ~

Unlike the photo given by ciao, this is a clear plastic bottle ( it reminds me of a space shuttle shape!). It has a screw top purple lid.

~ What is it? ~

A fast acting formula (purple liquid) which removes artificial nails quickly and effectively. It can also be used on natural nails as a polish remover.

A little bit of the liquid should be poured into a glass or metal bowl and the nails should be soaked for about 15 minutes or until the nail has dissolved.

Bottle
A buffer can be used afterwards to remove any stubborn residue.

It's always a good idea to moisturise your nails afterwards with a hand and nail treatment cream.

It suggests that there is enough in the bottle for the removal of 6 sets of nails.

~ My experience ~

I bought this because up until Christmas 2004 I had very ugly, nibbled nails and when a family wedding was approaching my Mum paid for me to get some false nails put on professionally. I'm glad she did as this inspired me to start growing my nails and no more false ones are required.

But................. after a couple of days the false ones began to break or snap and began to look quite ugly so I had to get 'em off and this is what I came across.

I followed the instructions and hey presto, there was no problem at all. The false nails came off extremely easily after the suggested 15 minutes and I didn't even have any stubborn bits that had to be buffered. It really does the trick!

Now that I don't have any need for false nails, I have continued to use this for the removal of french polish which I find is a lot more stubborn than bog standard nail varnishes and other brands like cutex don't get it off without having to rub at the nails.

It's also great for normal nail varnish, just a gentle wipe across with cotton wool or kitchen roll with a bit of this on it and off it comes. Easy, fast and effective!

My worry is that because it's so effective on very stubborn, hard false nails, does it strip your nails of any natural goodness they may have, although Elegant Touch do say that it doesn't harm the natural nail.

Very surprisingly after the years of nibbling and torture my nails have endured, they are extremely strong so I can't see any evidence of damage but I wouldn't advise it for anyone who has quite soft, weak, brittle nails who only wants to remove standard nail varnish, I would advise them to use the moisture balance remover or something less harsh.

But for those of you who fall in to my category of nails or for anyone that uses false nails it really DOES work, alternatively Elegant Touch have an artificial nail remover jar that you can dip your nails in to.

I've included a photo to show you what the bottle actually looks like.

I've had this bottle for 15 months now and it's just coming to the end of it's life and although I don't need it for false nails, I will be buying it again.
