About Elemis
I've been using Elemis products since last July and found that their exceptional high quality skincare products have helped me improve my eczema-prone, rosaceous and very sensitive skin. Not all of their products have worked for me but at least none of them has caused any adverse effects. Due to the price tag Elemis products come with, I've been using other brands eye creams / serums. As a couple of month ago I ran out of my Clinique Eye Serum I bought for £23 / 15 ml, I decided to go for Elemis Absolute Eye Serum (£23 / 15 ml).
Packaging
The 15 ml bottle itself is a silver glass bottle and has a metallic eyedropper lid and a glass pipette. The bottle is recyclable (it means you can screw off the eyedropper and fill it up with something else after you've finished it).
Overall, I wasn't happy with the bottle design at all. It is a glass bottle, not a pot, so it makes it difficult to estimate how much is being used. The pipette does not work as well as the rubber tipped ones, and you will most likely to drop 1-2 drops on your fingertip and not directly to the eye area anyway before applying the serum, the eyedropper idea is clearly wasted.
When the bottle started finishing, it was impossible to get out the remaining drops as the eyedropper wouldn't pick it up from the bottom. A glass bottle with a rubber tipped eyedropper would have worked a lot better; I have plenty of those to keep my essential oils in.
Absolute Eye Serum
The serum is a very light, clear liquid. It's not a jelly or a cream but it's rather runny and once I managed to tip over the bottle and some of the serum ended up on the bedcover. It got absorbed very quickly into the fabric before I even had a change to scoop it up. It wouldn't have happened to my other eye serums I've ever used because they wouldn't have leaked in the first place.
Usage:
Apply one drop around each eye daily.
Aftercare:
It wasn't suggested that I should be using the Absolute Eye serum alongside any other eye cream. Even on their website Elemis only says that it can be used under Pro-Collagen Eye Renewal. To me this suggests that this is a standalone product so no complementary eye cream is needed.
Yet it is too light to be used alone. My eyes felt naked and non-protected in this respect. All the other eye serums I've used (Clinique or Simple Regeneration Plus Eye Serum) felt more protective, were richer in texture and lasted longer.
Results:
The couple of drops do get absorbed very quickly but after that I don't have the impression of just having treated the delicate eye area. My skin is very sensitive so it needs a protective layer of a cream applied that will lock in moisture and keep out irritants.
The delicate skin below the eyes did look brighter and less tired, though the results were very similar to those I was experiencing with similar products before (Clinique and Simple Regeneration Plus Eye Serum). Or, if there were to be more results, unfortunately the serum didn't last enough to see it happen.
How long does a bottle last?
I was told by my Elemis beauty therapist that the 15 ml serum should last 2 months. It unfortunately only lasted for a month using the recommended amount.

Conclusion
I wouldn't heartily recommend this product. Elemis do have fantastic products but I found this to be too expensive for too little value. I almost felt like I was using a sample sized product. 15 ml of eye serum should have last at least 2 months as I was told it was going to. For me a serum says it is a concentrate so that's why a drop or two should do. Having said that, without complementing it with a regular anti-aging eye cream, I didn't find it to provide enough care for sensitive and very sensitive skin types.
The use of a few essential oils renowned for their anti-aging properties didn't warrant this heavy price tag. Personally, I will stick to my home-made eye serum I created using the same oils with the added bonus of being a lot cheaper, lacking any additives and has the perfect texture too.
Advantages: Natural and gentle ingredients. Disadvantages: Product claims don't match up to results seen, also expensive.
I've been buying Elemis products for about a year now and I would say the majority of the products I use, have really improved the look and texture of my skin. I also attend Elemis SpaPod facials every few weeks - a nice relaxing 45 minutes. I buy my products from the counter in the Chester Debenhams store although I also understand Elemis products are available in John Lewis stores and online at the official Elemis vendor www.timetospa.co.uk who ... ...repeat purchase. This is the Elemis description of the eye serum, taken from their website. 'This dynamic, light serum is a concentrated treatment that helps minimise the ravages of time and dark circles around the eye area. Herbal actives of Rosewood, Osmanthus, soothing Comfrey, Lavender and Chamomile gently preserve and refine eye contours'. I would tend to agree that yes the eye serum may help minimise the effects of time and ofcourse the ingredients ...

Advantages: Light texture does not cause puffy eyes Disadvantages: Not rich enough for heavy lines
I suffer from dark circles and tired looking eyes but I find many eye creams and serums too rich in texture and can irritate this delicate area or leave me with puffy eyes in the morning. This serum however is very light in texture and you only need a small amount.
The product is in a 15ml bottle with a glass dropper; I find one drop enough for both eyes. I drop the serum onto my ring finger pad then press the other finger into it and gently pat ... ...irritate the skin. The product is a light, cooling liquid so is quickly absorbed into the skin. Unlike other serums it does not feel at all greasy. In the morning I find I look more awake and the skin does not have as many dark shadows both above and below the eyes.
I have been using the product every night and some mornings for about six weeks and I would say there is still a few weeks worth left.
I would recommend this product for someone like ...

Advantages: Don't have to leave home to get it Disadvantages: Having to wait on the rep to call
I started to use this cream a few months ago, as I am always looking for the ultimate youth cream! I was amazed at how good my skin came to look. I did not have alot of wrinkles, in fact only a few faint lines around my eyes, but the overall improvement was outstanding. A jar lasts for a long time and I use it in conjunction with Elemisabsolute lifting serum and occasionally another day/night cream if my skin is feeling particularly dry.
I would recommend this product to anyone interested in looking their best as it is up there with the most expensive of creams and this one is cheaper and does the same job. I now would never do without it and it is a regular part of my daily beauty regime. Well done Avon for introducing me to a wonderful procuct! ...
