Before I bought Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream I had read about it in magazines with lots of Celebrities citing it as one of there "Must have" beauty products. As ever my inquisitive nature took over and I decided to invest in a tube to find out what I have been missing. So of I went to my local Debenhams and asked the Beauty Advisor for a tube of this recommended cream.
The Cream cost me £18 for a 50ml tube. I know this is also available at other department stores so it may be possible to buy this cheaper. The eight hour cream comes in an off white box with the Elizabeth Arden logo on the front. The actual tube is white in colour with black writing across the front and a screw
top lid.
Eight Hour Cream was developed by Elizabeth Arden over 70 years ago. Its intended use is to sooth minor skin irritations and calm chapping, peeling and flaking skin. It also claims to help heal sunburn, scrapes minor burns Its is called eight hour after a suggestion by a loyal user who claimed that the product healed her son's scraped knee in eight hours.
I got the cream home and decided to try it straight away. I had been suffering from dry skin for a number of weeks and hoped that this would help add moisture. I unscrewed the lid and applied the cream to my fingers. The directions on the tube advise you should Simply smooth directly on with fingertips whenever needed and avoid contact with eyes. I was quite surprised to find that the cream was orange in colour. I think I was assuming it would be white but the colour disappears once applied to the skin. I was also surprised by the smell. I was expecting a perfume type smell however its almost smell - less. The only thing I can describe it smelling close to is Vaseline! However as the instructions stated I applied to my fingers and smoothed it over my face. It might be worth noting here that when using Eight hour cream less is definitely more! The cream is extremely thick and can take a while to absorb. I find it is best used in very sparing amounts and rubbed in all over, otherwise your face is left feeling sticky! A few hours after application my face felt really smooth and the dry patches that my previous moisturiser had been unable to shift had now gone. I decided to apply again before bed and woke up to find my skin it perfect condition and not at all dry!
Since buying Eight hour cream I use it for just about everything. Due to its soothing properties it is recommended for use on dry or cracked lips and works fantastically as the cream has a shine when applied it is great for using as a lip gloss. It has become a must have in my make up bag and looks fantastic smoothed over cheekbones to accentuate them. I also use it one my eyebrows as it helps shape them and find it works on rough spots on feet or anywhere on body. It also works great on softening hard cuticles. As well as all this it works wonders on burns and scrapes and seems to speed up the healing process.
As cream is so soothing and aimed at problem skin areas it is suitable for all skin types.
Eight Hour Cream contains: Petrolatum, Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Tocopherol, BHT, Salicycic Acid, Ricinus Communis, Seed Oil, Zeta Mays Oil, Fragrance, Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Propylparben and Iron Oxides.
It is also worth Mentioning that the Salicylic Acid in Eight Hour Cream was pioneered by Elizabeth Arden. It exfoliates gently to encourage smooth skin and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits.
Eight Hour Cream is also available in a stick for lips. It contains sunscreen and vitamin E and comes in four different colours: Honey Blush Chestnut Plum.
I would definitely recommend Eight Hour Cream to anyone looking to buy. When I first purchased I felt the product was overpriced, my opinion has since changed after finding 101 uses for it! As long as it is used sparingly then it does not feel to heavy on the skin. My only disadvantage of this product is the amount of time it takes to absorb. I sometimes find myself rubbing the cream constantly in the hope it will absorb faster!
I would say this product is definitely worth a try!
Thanks for reading
