I think I’ve found ‘The One’. No, not Mr Right, but the perfect foundation! Oh, all those years of searching for it and not a sign it was out there – until now.

I bought this one from directcosmetics.com for £5.99, the retail price is closer to £20! So a great saving to start with.

Normally, they were too dark, or if they looked ok at first would soon leave me looking tangoed. Unfortunately when it arrived, the shade I wanted – Ivory, was correct on the box but was the wrong one in the bottle, so they cheerfully exchanged it within 3 days and included a couple of other products for my inconvenience.

If you’ve read my other foundation op, I wrote recently, you would know I have had huge trouble finding a foundation that suits my extremely pale, dry skin. Normally, they were too dark, or if they looked ok at first would soon leave me looking tangoed. My dry skin would also quickly suck up the foundation and leave me with dry, flaky patches, not an attractive look!

Firstly, this one comes in a rather elegant bottle and has a great pump dispenser, so much better than the open bottles where the liquid comes out too fast and you get too much. It provides you with just enough to cover each section of your face. The amount in the bottle is 30ml but will go a long way especially as you have the pump dispenser.

It goes on well, even when I hadn’t put moisturiser on first (which I recommend you do). It’s specifically for dry skin. It’s runny without being too wet. It blends wonderfully and the finish result is amazing! It looks so flawless and smooth and gives a medium coverage without looking or feeling heavy. I don’t even feel like I have anything on my face which is a bonus, I hate feeling like I have makeup on. It certainly pays to go for an expensive foundation. There is no way I am ever buying a cheap one again!

It has light-reflective pigments. You can actually see them on your skin, but it’s subtle. Unlike others, which boast it has them in there but the only glow you get is a greasy film on your face. It makes you look fresh faced and it has a yellow undertone to it, not pink like cheap ones. It’s important to go for a foundation with a yellow tone; it looks more professional and more natural.
It covers spots and imperfections and you can get away without using powder on top as it dries quickly and feels soft and not greasy or tacky at all, it feels like skin!
It also lasts well, after 6hrs it had faded a little to look even more natural and I couldn’t believe it but my skin felt really soft, even softer than before I had applied it. By 8hrs it needs to be reapplied again for the evening if you’re going out.

This foundation also has vitamins and botanicals included, plus and SPF8. It’s clinically, allergy and dermatologically tested.
It has a huge long list of ingredients, some of which are Aloe, Chamomile, Ginkgo Biloba and Green Tea. It’s not just a foundation; it’s a skin care product!

Two disadvantages tho, are the horrible play-doh smell and it does rub off on clothes. But hey, we cant have everything!

Just a little advice to those still searching for their perfect match. Always make sure your foundation matches your skin tone exactly. It should blend away to nothing on your face. It shouldn’t look like you’re wearing any!
If you haven’t found yours yet, keep looking, it IS out there. After all, I’ve been searching over 10yrs for mine!
