The Elonex Safari 2 Notebook PC is a toughened design, built for conditions where ordinary notebooks struggle. Its semi-ruggedized construction gives you extra resilience without the huge cost overhead of full ruggedization. MIL standard resistance to moisture, dust and vibration keeps this notebook going whatever the weather. The magnesium alloy construction of the top and bottom shells make this notebook PC both tough and attractive. Enhanced hard drive shock-mounting protects against sudden impact, whilst the waterproof keyboard will resist common spills. ...I have used this laptop now for quite some time and have come over hardly any difficulties with it! For its size its a very good and fast little tablet! With its own sensitive screen you can use the tablet pen to be your mouse and turn it into 'tablet mode'. The screen is very sensitive and the pixels very easily get damaged. Their is no cd/dvd at all supplied with it but then again, its got so much to offer!
Here are its specifications ....

Advantages: Speed, Power, Performance and Battery Life Disadvantages: Silver Paint can be damaged easily
...I have had the laptop for over a year now and I have been very impressed with it.
The overall built quality is very good, only marred by the tendancy to make slight marks on the silver finished case.
The fingerprint reader has been excellent. I can log into the work domain with one finger and log on locally with another - I kid you not.
The performance of the laptop has been very good. The PentiumM chip is certainly far better than any previous laptop cpu I have used.
The laptop came with a useable 512mb of memory which so far I haven't had the need to upgrade.
The graphics provided by the laptop is not the usually onboard affair. The pc is powered by an ATI 9700 Mobility chip. The power the the gpu has been impressive - I recently took the laptop to a Computer Lan and a friend of mine used the laptop to paly Counterstrike and Half...

Advantages: Fast, cheap for spec, keyboard, features Disadvantages: Dead Pixels, support,
...I actually have the 2Ghz 8006, but essentially this is the same laptop.
It is a very good spec for the price, I bought from laptopsdirect.co.uk and would not recommend that you purchase from them!!!
When I purchased this laptop I bought the 3 year accidental warranty and the 1 gig memory upgrade.
Laptopsdirect.co.uk -
Well I think they are shocking to be honest, firstly the laptop was DOA and they refused to replace, telling me I had to go through acer support desk, the laptop went for repair at least 3 times within the first 2 months and of that time i had a laptop in my posession about 8 days, and 3 of those it was dead and just sat there waiting to be picked up.
It turned out to be the memory upgrade that had been fitted, one of the modules was faulty, I am currently in talks with laptopsdirect to try and get a refund for this...

The Dell D series of laptops came out in 2003 to replace the C series laptops (how did they come up with such a catchy name?). The main ranges are the D400, D600 and D800 spot the pattern yet. The D600 is the middle of the range in terms of size, weight more
I for one, absolutely love the look of this acer. The bottom of the laptop just looks really cool, and the top looks ok too. One only criticism on the look, would be that the plastic at the tip of the screen is a little thick, but then again it does have more
I bought mine on ebay for £360, I needed it for university study and it's working really well for small documents like word and excel and it will also play some games well, mainly Unreal Tournament online :-)
The disk space of 60GB is plenty for me.... more
I had wanted a laptop for a long time but had never been able to justify the cost when I already had a desktop computer. With the prospect of planning my wedding and spending hours on the internet searching for suppliers etc, I wanted to be able to do... more
A fully featured VAIO notebook for under £500. This has to be worth looking into. Sony VAIO Notebooks are famous for being industry leaders but also for being overpriced. Now this Laptop has the quality and stylish look as do all VAIO's but not the price more
