I decided that I wanted a computer about 1 year ago. I didn’t really need one for anything specific, I just liked the idea of exploring the net, finding out information about products and services, and most of all I wanted to get song lyrics off of the web so I could print them out. (I’m Karaoke mad) On my 22nd Birthday I decided that I was going to go and treat myself to one. I went to Curry’s and brought a computer package deal.

Advantages: Errrrrrrrr..... price Disadvantages: Noisy, slow, hangs up mysteriously
It was about ten months ago when I finally got my first home PC – we had a baby on the way and I was getting a digital camera for Christmas, so putting two and two together I paid a visit to my local PC World.
I had a budget in mind of £700 to £800 – all I really needed was something for general use, storing photos, surfing the net, etc. The sales assistant advised me to go for the e-machines model; I hadn’t heard of them but he ... ...I decided to go for the e-tower, 733 Mhz Celeron processor, 15Gb memory, 64 Mb RAM. This also included a Lexmark Z22 printer, a HP 2100C scanner and a workstation. The full package cost me £750.
Installation was easy, but the first thing I noticed upon boot-up was the excessive whirring noise of the hard drive. I use PC’s daily at work, but none so loud as this! What the hell, I thought, I’ll just play background music to drown it out. ...

Advantages: Easy to upgrade, simple to use, comes with everything a basic computer needs Disadvantages: Not fast, getting outdated
It is a fabulous computer and has been since it came out. It is strong and reliable and comes with pretty much everything you need to get a computer up and running. However, in today's market, it lacks the speed to run the latest software. That's why I recommend it to anyone who just wants a cheap, reliable computer to do internet surfing and emails on.
If you can, I suggest you upgrade the RAM to 128or 256 (its limit) and install XP or otherwise ... ...doesn't come like that). The more RAM the better. I also would avoid recommending it to people who upgrade computers as it has some harsh limitations like you can only upgrade the processor a bit, the RAM to 256, etc. The cost of the RAM upgrade now is about 2x£30 128MBs, that takes it up to its limit. XP will cost about £60-90 depending on the licence.
Mine came with a build-in modem which is a particular benefit for those who want simple internet ...

I bought my mju with Amazon online for £163.00 so had no real inkling of the size so when it arrived and I prised the box open I was almost "where it is?" thinking that this pretty but titchy little silver thing could not possibly be my mju but it was! ... more
