The brewery started life back in 1869 as Lorimar & Clark and was saved from oblivion it 1987 after a management buy-out.
The brewery was all but destroyed in a major fire in 1995, but recovered sufficiently for the mega-brewer, Scottish & Newcastle to partially take-over in 2004 although they still retain a certain amount of independence. This year, they took over the Harviestoun Brewery.

Talking of history, the beer I'm reviewing is called Double Amber. Or to give it its full name, Campbell, Hope & King Double Amber. When I was younger, I was a huge fan of the TY beanie collection. I spent all my pocket money on these soft little teddies and and animals, building up quite a collection ready to dominate my room. Between my friends and I, I think me probably had most that were out at the time!
The teddies come in all forms. As I am a big cat lover, there is no surprise that I had quite a few of the cat teddies! One of these teddies was Amber the cat. Amber was a nice little size, sitting snug in my palm. In her bum you could feel the beans, and in the end of her paws too. Though her body was very soft, stuffed with a fluffy stuffing fluff.
Amber was very cute. She was mainly a light brown colour., with darker brown stripes. She looked almost golden, like a magical little cub. Her paws were white, as was her nose, giving her a special look. Her ...

It's difficult to buy a double bass in the simple way you might buy a good quality electric guitar or electric bass . For a guitar you can sort of decide if you're Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc type of person by seeing what you're favourite players use on the telly and then trying them out in any good guitar store. But for the double bass we're in different territory all together and different rules apply.
If you try out the bass in a store or room that is stuffed with other double basses or even other wooden acoustic instruments its going to resonate a little in each of those instruments and lead you into believing you have a lovely sounding bass when you probably haven't.
Some spaces can make an unamplified double bass sound great. I like to play mine on the lower landing of my stairwell - always sounded beautiful there. If you ...
