Advantages: Its a job, that provides money Disadvantages: The time that you waste at the start and end of the day without pay
WHSmiths is one of the most well known high street stores. As a current employee i intend to give you all of the information that i can think of about it. ***How Much Do You Get Paid?*** This will be the question that most peope are interested in. It currently is above the minimum wage, but with the minimum age rising, it wont be that much above it. For somebody starting off as a probationer the pay is £4.28 perhour, then hopefully after three ......are between 16 and 18 you get £4.81 per hour. If you are 18, you get £5.13 per hour The only way that you could more than this would be to get promoted, however the chances of this happening are very rare, as there always seems to be people with more experience than you. Payment is made by BACS on the last day of every month usually, unless it's a bank holiday in which you could get payed even earlier, hardly ever later. Also overtime from one ... Read review
Advantages: Pay not bad; travel expenses paid Disadvantages: Antiquated systems and poor customer service
I totally disagree with the previous reviewer re Tern Consultancy. I have worked for them for over a year and yes, the pay isn't bad, although I would hardly call £12 brilliant, as it doesn't just cover the visit, but also the time spent getting there, and the extremely tedious process of writing it up on their awful database - more of that later. They also pay travel expenses, only 24p per mile, but that is a plus as some agencies pay nothing at ......shopping agencies and this is the only one that doesn't pay directly to your bank account via BACS. You have to fill in a claim form by hand - you're only allowed to submit one pay claim form a month, and you have to fill in a separate form for reimbursement of purchases, which to be fair are promptly reimbursed. Visits have to be entered onto a truly awful American database, which flags up mis-spellings if they're not spelt in the 'American' way. ... Read review
Advantages: benefits, the people, the pay Disadvantages: corporate rubbish sometimes
I've worked for Vodafone since 2005. I work in a retail store in a precinct as a Sales Advisor though I will be Senior Sales Advisor in a few weeks (if NVQs people get a move on). I originally started on 8 hours but am now on 30 hours plus overtime. Normally I do on average 38 hours per week. Getting the job A lot of things have changed over the years including on how they recruit people. I saw the job advertised on the Customer Service board ......that told you all about Vodafone as a company, the past, the present and the future. What they expect from you as an advisor. You also do those role play games. Learn to work as a group. I remember that the food where I had my induction (the Hilton in Leeds) was lovely! Now, the induction is three days long and incorporates the training we had do with last year. (Went down to Luton and it snowed.) Training was about how to handle customers, to go ... Read review
Advantages: Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and easy to learn. Disadvantages: No till training when on work experience
I am currently doing work experience at Smiths and am enjoying it. The staff are friendly and easy to get on with. The manager is just as nice. Most of the customers are nice but you get a few bad ones but I just smile and bare it. Because I haven't been till trained I have to get my collegue to serve them which sometimes annoys the customer. I taught myself how to do cash and card payments as the till is touch screen. Then I was told I can't use ... Read review
