Morrisons Supermarket
Review of Morrison, (WM) Supermarkets by Azazeal123

Advantages: Excellent customer service; lovely staff; good benefits; and great products
Disadvantages: Sick day management and rough customers (lack of security)

I decided to write a review in response to this one: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Comments-on-ReviewMorrisonWMSupermarkets55 59754 And also because of the comments concerning it. The training at Morrison's is excellent, very good quality with plenty of follow up. I started work in a Morrison's store in February this year and in response to Gemimz69's comment about the induction... mine took place over 2 days!!! From 9 till 5 on Saturday and 9 till ...
...total for each day... and I have to say it was quite hefty for just an induction; what with all the video's and questionnaires and role play's etc; but it gives a great overview of the company. I feel Fazel may have exaggerated a little with the chip and pin situation and I work on checkouts myself and I really can't see such things happening. Although I do have to back up the security camera issue on checkouts. The store I work in; I'm constantly ... Read review

Review of McDonalds Restaurants by amberlevi267

Advantages: Cures hanovers
Disadvantages: taste awful, processed rubbish.

...restaurants, on a daily basis McDonalds can serve over 54 million customers a day. Over the years McDonald's has become well known or it's hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, French fries, mc muffins, soft drinks, milkshakes, doughnuts and apple pies. More recently McDonalds has also added salads, wraps , deli rolls and fruit, to their menu. THE HISTORY McDonalds was founded in 1940, with a restaurant being opened by two brothers Dick ...
...established the principles of the McDonalds fast-food restaurant. The present corporation dates its founding to the opening of a franchised restaurant in Illinois on April 15, 1955, this was the ninth McDonald's restaurant overall. The man that purchased the franchise also purchased the McDonald brothers equity in the company and led the McDonalds fast food restaurant to worldwide expansion, giving us what we have today. With the successful expansion ... Read review

Working for Harrods
Review of Harrods, Knightsbridge by MR2MK1CCW

Advantages: Decent pay rate, Frequent overtime available, Looks good on CV, Worker discounts, friendly staff from all over the world, relaxed working environment (in some departments)
Disadvantages: Commuting to Knightsbridge (cost and hassle on tubes), Overzealous security and administration, Dirty staff toilets!

Introduction - I have been spurred on to write this review having read a brilliant review concerning working for Tesco by ciao member tiabailey. I will try to replicate the level of depth that review went into as it was extremely helpful. Beginnings - I wandered into the recruitment centre for Harrods which is located in the Crown Court building in Basil Street directly opposite door six of the main Harrods' building in summer 2004. I was 18 ...
...summer. By shear luck (and trust me this hardly ever happens) I was given an interview immediately for a position working in a warehouse store support department. Thankfully I was told I could have the job and to return for an induction later on in the week. I had commenced on my time with Harrods. Induction - Rather boring but then I guess they must all be regardless of where you work. You are required to take several forms of ID, fill out some ... Read review

Don't do it
Review of Hays by Sawyerfan815

Advantages: ?????
Disadvantages: Inaccessible consultants. Rude. Unhelpful.

...the mistake of registering with hays in January 2005. They have provided poor customer service, failing to return calls, claiming to be too busy. On the occasions they did offer to put me forward for a job, they generally never called me back about it. On one occasion, they called me about a job and after hearing nothing for 2 weeks I rang to chase it up only to be informed that my consultant had emigrated to Australia and no one else knew anything ...
...not actively seeking work through Hays as I was on an assignement with another agency, but they kept on ringing me about it, telling me it would be for longer than my existing job until I gave in. They had made a mistake with my hours, when i clarified this with the client I was informed that Hays had actually pushed the client into accepting me, they usually used another agency but this other agency had apparently been unable to supply anyone suitable. ... Minimum Wage at Matalan.
Review of Matalan by kimp123

Advantages: Flexible.
Disadvantages: Low pay.

Matalan are a unique out of town retailing concept. They sell quality fashion and home wares at exceptional value and up to 50% cheaper than their competitors. One of the fastest growing retailers in the Uk, Matalan employs over 10,000 people. I am sure that there are plenty of people who have experienced shopping (and queuing) in a Matalan store, but just what is it like to be one of the humble 10,000? Well, as an employee, I will attempt to fill ...
...Matalan employ a wide selection of people who are able to fit into a quite flexible set of working shifts. Often each store will run on only a few full time staff and a lot of part timers. For these part time staff shifts usually last just four hours. Matalan employ several students during evening, weekend and holiday periods, while during the normal working day staff tend to be a little older and are often made up of mothers with children are at ...
