*Graphics* The graphics of this game, right from the intro movie are spectacular, the 3D graphical rendering is impeccable and the stereo sound is awesome. The cutscenes really take advantage of the graphics engine of the Xbox 360. The gameplay itself is also quite clean, with nice flame, lens flare and water effects.
*Gameplay* The gameplay is based on a fairly simple premise whereby the main character Atsuma is learning a form of magic to defend the city in which he lives. The story really warms up when he and his friends from school attend the spring festival and things go wrong as an earthquake and other mitigating factors including Atsuma himself free a Devil Golem who then reeks havoc on the town in which he lives. The gaming interface is clean, maps and doorways are clearly displayed, and objects which can be interacted with are well defined. The one downside of the game is the long times spent in the initial phase talking to your friends to fill out the story line so far. this constant talk phase and getting instructions for the simplest of things is somewhat frustrating. The battle system is initiated by random wandering, and is reminiscent of many other RPG's.
*Battle System* The battle system is well thought out, and players square off against their enemies on a grid system, divided in the middle. This allows for movement and dictates whether or not you can attack or be attacked by the enemy. I found this portion of the game somewhat frustrating, as moving characters to the front of the grid can cause them to block others from doing their attacks etc. The Auto option can shorten this, but I feel the grid system not only restricts the view, but also trivialises the battle. I feel they should have stuck with the more traditional battle system of FFX etc. However as each player attacks can only reach a certain portion of the grid it does add some complexity to the battles which some may appreciate.
*Manual* The manual explains a little of the storyline, and details the different buttons functions, however it seems a little lite on with regard to advanced features of the game which are expained (sometimes at length) by your companions during the game
*Features* The great (and sometimes difficult to comprehend) part of this game is the advaned method of powering up. Skills must be learned before they can be equipped, Golems (Helpers for your Party) must be synthesized by collecting Materials and buying from the shops. and Weapon upgrades must also be syntheized at a shop before being equipped. The traditional level up feature is included but I feel that the players' growth is somewhat stagnated by the constant need to interact with party functions to add weapons etc.
Overall this game was entertaining with a somewhat fresh storyline and great cutscenes, however I feel it fell down a bit with regard to player interaction and development. I hope they stick with it and creat something better for us next time with outstanding graphics and a more free flowing gameplay!
Advantages: Final Fantasy-esque RPG action Disadvantages: Too many to list...
...(poor) attempts out there, and Enchanted Arms is Microsoft's attempt at filling the niché.
I'm going to refer LOTs to Final Fantasy, as this is the 'standard' for RPG's you could say. Final Fantasy VII set the standard for almost every RPG out today, so I think it's justified. NB: I am NOT comparing this to Final Fantasy VII in any way, just using it for guidelines.
Some background:
You play as Atsuma, an 'Enchanter' student at some random enchanting ... ...speak. You and your friends, one an extremely camp homosexual (why, Microsoft?) decide to take the day off school and check out the big celebration that's kicking off in the centre of town.
As you can imagine, all doesn't go according to plan, and suddenly thinks take a turn for the worse. Magical beings called 'Golems', who were previously calm and controlled, suddenly turn violent and crazy and begin attacking anything in their path. You decide ...

Advantages: Lovely to look at, Cut scenes and story line very absorbing, Gameplay simple and enjoyable Disadvantages: Spoken conversations, Some sounds not very appropriate
I have throughly enjoyed this game to date, Although there are a few little annoyances it is an awesome game to look at and very enjoyable to play. The story line seems very absorbing and the game flows nicely. One of the annoying parts is the spoken conversations all the time that you can't skip through. Although it is a very clever game and Ubisoft have released in my opinion one of the best RPG games on the 360 there are bits that annoy. All in ... ...playability of this game.
Story:-
You start this game by taking control of a character called Atsuma. Atsuma is a student at the Enchant University in the city of Yokohama. I use the term student loosely as he is a bit of a drop out and the story itself starts with him sleeping in class and the teacher catching him. The story starts to develop when we discover he has a special right arm, It tells you very little about it and I will not tell you ...

Advantages: Battle System, Looks fantastic, Lasts a good while Disadvantages: Weak storyline, Many random battles
Enchanted Arms is a competent RPG with some good ideas, but it's no final fantasy. Enjoyable nonetheless.
The battle system makes or breaks a random battle RPG, and in this case it's a fun and tactical interlude to wandering around the beatifully rendered maps. Although the encounter rate of the random battles is perhaps a little high they are often over quickly, and the transition between them and the map screen happens quickly. Overall, they aren't ... ...fighting is set on a 4x4 grid, with your party squaring off against as many as six enemies. Each attack affects a certain area of the enemy grid, so positioning your characters for maximum effectiveness is of utmost importance. The usual elemental rock/paper/scissors, fire/water/wind system is present, making certain attacks more effective against certain enemies. A big minus for a lot of players will the be the attack animations, a kind person would ...

Advantages: Amazing Graphics + Cut Scenes, Great Cities and Originality. Disadvantages: Forced Path Through The Game.
What can i say about Enchanted Arms for the XBOX 360, the first thing that comes to mind is that it is absolutely one of the best games that i have played in months. It is much like the well known and revered Final Fantasy game series, except that its style is completely original. The game follows the character that you play, a young man and student of Enchant University, Atsuma. He travels across the world with his newly found friends to try to ... ...at times almost sounds a little gay. Anyway, the game itself has a very unique battle system, much like a chess board but smaller, three squares deep and four wide to be precise. Your battle party allows you to use up to four of your characters or golems in any battle. You can increase all of your characters and golems attributes and teach them new fighting abilities by winning battles and leveling up. The main enemy of Atsuma in the game is one ...

Advantages: Follows ATB system, good character progression. Disadvantages: Boss battles take a lot of strategy
...Just like all games Enchanted Arms has a series of Boss fights, and they are far from easy. These are called Devil Golems and you are thrown into one after the festival with the Devil Golem the Ice Queen. Obviously the aim is to lose as you are not leveled up enough to hurt her. As the game progresses you come across more of these Devil Golems and eventually face the final battle with the Ice Queen, which is a string of multi battles. Atsuma meets ... ...quite easy to get used to. Some of the graphics are quite breathtaking, especially the Iwato village, with the pagodas and zen gardens. The plot can be a little amusing sometimes, and the story line and dialouge leads the player to think Atsuma isn't as smart as his friends but overall makes it an interesting play. A great thing about this is the cut scenes. They're not as lengthy as some other RPG's (final fantasy especially) and alot of them are ...
