This is my first year using Endleigh for my motor insurance. I have just decided to use them again as they undercut the next lowest quote by around £50. I will now pay about £350 per annum for Third Party, Fire and Theft cover with legal cover, £100 damage excess, £200 Fire and Theft excess. I am 25, drive a Peugeot 405GL, have 2 years no claims bonus and park it on the road. Enough of the dry details.
They say that they offer a loyalty bonus for those people who are renewing and as they gave me the cheapest quote i'm inclined to agree. However my loyalty lies with the company that gives me the cheapest cover. No surprises there! It just so happens that it's Endsleigh at the moment..i suppose it will change at some point.
Getting a cheap quote is a bit of luck really. Companies like Endleigh are dependent on the prices offered by the underwriters which can vary considerably from month to month. Obviously the length of time you've been driving, the car you drive, cover required and no claims bonuses are the main factors. Even given these variables, though, there is a significant range in the quotes offered. The highest was about £700 in my case.
A word of warning to those people using Endleigh and paying monthly by direct-debit. They told me that the APR was 12% which was very reasonable. They didn't tell me about the administration charge or the payment protectioninsurance. The latter added about £ 3 - 4 on my monthly payment and was completely unnecessary. They only give you a monthly premium without PPI if you specifically ask for it. A bit cheeky really. The admin. charge was about £20. So if you can pay the whole lot off over the phone or by cheque. It'll save you quite a bit.
The customer servive is pretty run-of-the-mill from what i have experienced. The real acid-test of such companies is when you have an accident and/or make a claim. I have been lucky in this respect so i can't comment of this aspect of their service.
I dealt with Endleigh via their phone line as i found the website difficult to navigate. In addition i have found insurance websites desire to give you a 'quick-quote' overriding the accuracy of the quote.
Overall: Good value but a bit cheeky with the stealth charges.
