I am a student so every year before my car insurance is up I start looking for the best deals to renew. I pretty much change my insurers every year, last year I thought I try Endsleigh.
+++Getting the Insurance++++
It's so much easier getting a quote for insurance with the use of the internet. The way I do it is first go on the website, check how much my premium would be and then call them by phone. You can buy insurance over the internet but its nice to talk to someone when you are buying something like insurance, its not exactly cheap, if you know what I mean.

Its very easy to get a quote over the internet. Endsleigh's website is very easy to navigate through, of course they don't just offer car insurance they offer other sorts of insurance too, but for this review I will be writing about car insurance. So, first thing, click the 'car insurance' button and you will be taken to another page where you fill in your details, the usual stuff, name, address contact details etc. You are then required to give information about the car you are insuring and if any claims you've made.
It took me about 10 minutes to go through the form to get the qoute and I must admit it was pretty good. I found the insurance offered here was about £100 -£200 cheaper then others.
++++Insurance over the phone++++
Now with the qoute in mind, I decided to give them a call. Its a free phone number so dont worry about the bill. Also, when you are buying something over the net, you need to make sure of any hidden costs, so I gave them a call.
Basically you go thru the same questions again and at the end of the questions you are given a quote. The quote was actually cheaper over the phone and I told them this, they said its because rates are always changing and also I might have answered something incorrectly, glad I phoned them.
++++Haggle++++
Now this is the most annoying bit, obviously the quote they give you can be haggled. They agreed to knock of another £50 if I went with them today. Obviously this is a sales tactic, If I phoned them the next day they would do the same thing, so make sure you haggle.
+++Excess+++
The Excess charge with Endsleigh is quite high compared to others, about £50-£100 more. The reason is that because your premium is low your excess is high. This excess you pay even if the accident is not your fault.
You never really think you are going to have a accident, so I decided to take it.
Oh Shit----My accident
I had a car accident a couple of months ago, it wasn't my fault, so annoying!!! However, after the accident I gave them a call and they were really helpful. Offered to take my car as it was not road worthy and not safe to keep on the road. The also gave me a courtesy car which I had for six weeks and basically dealt with everything with the third party insurers.
They also appointed me a solicitor to help with my personal injury!
Overall
Overall, Endsleigh are ok, bit annoyed that as my car was written off they didn't give me descent money back to buy another car even after so many arguments.
I think all insurers are ok until you make a claim!

I'd agree with you. Thought Eagle Star were great until I had to make a claim.

I've got my student insurance with them - for my room, lap top, mobile phone, that kind of thing. Broke my mobile phone about a month ago and they replaced it within 8 days - slightly long to be without a mobile phone but that's my only criticism! Sarah x
