I've previously written about my favourite series of books written by Enid Blyton, and I thought I'd tell you all about a hardback book that was bought for me by my ever-loving parents for my tenth birthday. Before I start, I don't think this book is available new any more, but you may be able ... Read review

If only my school had been this much fun.
Review of Enid Blyton's Third Form at St.Clare's - Enid Blyton by sandemp

Advantages: A fun look at school life in times gone by
Disadvantages: May seem a little old-fashioned

...series of books written by Enid Blyton, and I thought I'd tell you all about a hardback book that was bought for me by my ever-loving parents for my tenth birthday. Before I start, I don't think this book is available new any more, but you may be able to find it in a second-hand (or charity) shop, or at a boot sale or even a jumble sale (are these still held anymore?). The book in question is The St. Clare's Trilogy, which has a bright yellow cover ...
...series, which is about Pat and Isobel O'Sullivan and their fun and misadventures at boarding school. The three books contained in the trilogy are : The Twins at St. Clare's The O'Sullivan Twins Summer Term at St Clare's They cover the twins first year at the school, and form an enchanting look at how young girls were seen in a time long before I was born. ---The Characters--- There are a lot of characters in the book, the majority memorable, ... ST CLARES - MORE JOLLY HOCKYSTICKS!
Review of Enid Blyton's Third Form at St.Clare's - Enid Blyton by kismet

Advantages: a gentle read, loved it when i was a kid
Disadvantages: bit out of date nowadays

...school series also written by Enid Blyton. There are 6 books in this series: The Twins at St Clares The O'Sullivan Twins Summer Term at St Clares Second Form at St Clares Claudine at St Clares Fifth Formers at St Clares The twins - Pat & Isobel O'Sullivan - are sent to St Clares boarding school and they are not very happy about it. They wanted to go to a posher school where all of their friends are going, so they decide to look down their ...
...studies. One theme of Enid Blytons books is the good will usually prevail, for example, something bad will happen to a bad person, or the character will somehow come good by the end of the books. There are the usual pranks, midnight feast, "ragging" (playing tricks) on pupils and teachers and of course they play lacrosse and do a lot of sport. I think that Malory Towers was better than St Claires, but this is still a good read RELEVANT IN TODAYS ... Read review

More School Fun From Enid Blyton
Review of Enid Blyton's Third Form at St.Clare's - Enid Blyton by KarenUK

Advantages: fun to read, good stories, good characters
Disadvantages: rather dated

...the St. Clare's set by Enid Blyton - The Twins At St. Clare's, Summer Term, Second Form, Claudine At St. Clare's, Fifth Formers and The O' Sullivan Twins. These are similar to the wonderful Malory Towers books, as they are set in a girls' boarding school. I loved reading these as a child, but preferred the Malory Towers series myself. The Twins At St. Clare's is the first book and begins the series, with Pat and Isabel O' Sullivan going away to ...
...They soon get into their new life, making friends and getting to know all the teachers there. The other books in the series include problems with a girl called Margery, the mysterious Claudine and a new French girl called Antoinette. They are great fun to read and I would especially recommend them for girls aged between six and twelve. ... Read review

Life at Boarding School
Review of Enid Blyton's Third Form at St.Clare's - Enid Blyton by FriendlyLynn

Advantages: A good example of girls learning to live with One another.
Disadvantages: I hated the portrayal of the French Mistresses.

The St Clare's series is a good set of books in my view concerning the real life of boarding school & state school regarding the mix of abilities that you get in both places. Through out the series there are the wonderful mix of the average ordinary schoolgirl who is just normal whom people can still relate to as well as others who stand out for good & bad reasons. People who arrive & do not want to be stuck in some posh school like the Twins or ...
...later even so called weak Alison who all find their niche & all realise that they are people who can go out & influence others. Yes I agree with some comments that it is some what dated but odd sports to modern readers like lacroose have now been replaced in todays modern world in many schools with basket ball or trampolening & no doubt some other sports will replace those in the years to come. ... St Clare's childhood relived

Advantages: good for kids
Disadvantages: none that i can see

...set of School stories from Enid Blyton. There are six books in all The Twins at St Clares, The O'Sullivan Twins, Summer Term at St. Clares, Second Form at St Clares, Claudine at St Clares and Fifth Formers at St Clares. The first three books are about the First year at St. Clares when Pat and Isobel O' Sullivan join the school. The main Chracters of the books are The Twins, there Cousin Alison, Hilary, Janet and Doris and of course Mamselle and Miss ...
...did. As School stories go Enid Blyton manages to capture the imagination the reader and you feel compelled to finish the book. In case you are like me and read them as a child you might be interested to know that author Anne Digby has now written and published the two missing years from ther series the 3rd form and the 6th Form at St Clares. Written in the style of Enid Blyton they are also well worth a read. ... Read review
