Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: drivers not available for latest windoes
...This is a film scanner I bought second hand quite a year ago. It was fairly priced and I thought of giving it a go. The first problems occured when I had to set up the SCSI card which took some time, but was worth doing, if you really are into computers.
SInce this is a discontinued item, there are no drivers for Windows XP (unless someone knows something that I do not and enlight us), I had to set up my computer with 2 different Operating Systems. Windows 98 just for the scanenr and XP for all the other applications. It is alright, it does not do you much of a hassle.
So the scanner is a decent piece of equipment, scanning, both negatives and positives (transparencies) as well as APS film, provided that you buy the adaptor which I do not hold. It can scan framed slides as well.

Advantages: Good Solid reliable computer Disadvantages: Fiddly to upgrade the memory or hard drive.
...I run a charity that gives computers to disabled peole. Mostly, I have had Compaq computers donated to me for this project and I can honestly say that they are about 99% reliable.
Of the over 300+ computers donated so far,270+ have been Deskpro EN series, and I have only had 3 callbacks for problems on the units.Normally a plug I hadn't pushed in properly. All the other have proved to be no problem at all.
I myself use a Deskpro EN at home, and it has worked flawlessly for over 1.5 years, and its on 24 hours a day. It is also the server for a local LAN in my house, and is the master for Internet connection sharing. Faultless in operation, I would not hesitate to recommend this marque to anybody looking for a reliable unit.
Any business looking for long term reliability, and a good strong workhorse should definately consider a Compaq...

Advantages: Small size, wall mountable, can't be any easier to set up! Disadvantages: Nothing at this price!
...In a previous job, I was asked to clear away a stack of old computer equipment from a customer's site. With all the PCs seen to, in amongst piles of leads and adapters I spotted the EN104TP.
At the time, I'd just got a broadband connection and was considering setting up a LAN of my own, so I decided to give the hub a home until I'd bought a firewall/router first.
Once this was done, I ran a long ethernet cable up through the house to our computer room, which connects my router to the EN104TP. This now allows my two computers and printer to talk to each other.
The fourth port is used as an uplink, which means you can connect it to other hubs or routers. It's also got holes in the back for wall mounting, of which it is now.
It's never broken or gone wrong and its small size makes it ideal for those wanting to create a home network...
