I wanted an acoustic guitar to play along with my electric. I didn't have a lot of money at the time so I was looking for a good deal.
I had bought an acoustic guitar from Argos and was really disappointed with its sound. I brought it back and decided to go to a proper music store.
The first thing that stood out about the guitar was it was black. Not that rare but also not that common. To me it looked great. I played about for a while then bought it and took it home.
It has a really rich tone and is very easy to play, the whole way up the neck. One thing I would recommend is to replace the strings it came with, as these aren't the best. I replaced the strings, which was easy enough to do, and the sound improved noticeably. Tuning is easy and the machine heads keep the tuning very well, I rarely have to retune it. When plugged into an amp, via a separate pickup that I attach to the sound hole, the sound is excellent. If you were gigging with this and have the pickup, you would be more than pleased with the results, it's very difficult to notice big differences with it's sound and a Gibson counterpart.
If I had a £1 for every time I have dropped it or knocked it against the wall/door/my head I would be very rich. The build quality is exceptional, even the abuse I have given it hasn't resulted in any damage, just a few minor marks on the shiny paintwork.
Only one problem is the lack of a strap pin at the head end, though this can be solved with good old shoelace or even a cheap attachment bracket, which will cost a few quid. Its only needed if you plan on standing while playing.

It may not be of the same quality but this guitar really packs a great sound and I am happier to drop this on the ground than I would a Gibson. If you have money to burn go for a Gibson, if not, you are getting a whole load of guitar at the Epiphone price.
