Advantages: Very versitile. Disadvantages: Quite heavy compared to most guitars.

To do this product the correct justice as a twin neck I'm going to review each neck (each half of the guitar) as a seperate piece then tie them together at the end.
6 string ------------
Clean channel ---------------------
This guitar provides a beautiful tone on a clean, easily out-doing single neck SG's on resonance and sustain, however like the single neck SG's it does have quite a high attack on notes making it somewhat jangly, but this can be solved by turning down the gain on your amp. This ,however, is only true of the lead (bridge) humbucker. The neck humbucker provides a much thicker warmer sound, much like that of a good quality bass guitar. I highly recommend the neck humbucker for acoustic playing.
Over-driven ----------------
Stay away from the neck humbucker with this thing on over-driven channels, it WILL feedback unless you're standing a good few metres away from your amp. Even then I can't suggest it because of it's thickness, it causes all your notes to run together.
The lead humbucker is a total opposite, providing a biting tone capable of cutting through background noise yet maintaining enough punch to hit your audience in the chest, this neck with the lead humbucker is the final FU2 in this guitars metal line up.
12 sting -----------
Clean channel --------------------
This guitar is perfection on clean channel, the lead humbucker provides an excellent almost country jingle yet with all the thickness of the blues allowing it to cover both (although I bought you could get away with playing it at a barn dance).
The neck humbucker is just what everyone needs if you've ever wanted to play the blues, it's thick and soulful, loud yet soft. There is no other way to describe it and I personally have never played anything I could compare it too, it is a one-off unique sound made only by this guitar.
Over-driven ----------------
The neck humbucker is just too thick sounding to play this guitar over driven and it feedbacks more than the 6-string on this setting. You have been warned.
The lead humbucker however, it's basically the same as the 6-stringer but much.... bigger... is the only way to describe it. It's a very epic sound mainly because of the extra strings allowing your sound to cover two octaves instead of the usual one. This guitar is perfect for anything buy G'n'R or Velvet Revolver (so basically anything Slash plays).
Conclusion ----------------
This guitar is a VERY versitile piece of kit capable of covering so many different counds when paired up with the right amp. And at the price of about £600-£700 new, it's a must have for the guitarist that does everything.... or if you just want to look really good. The pots on this guitar are good quality allowing you to better model your tone to your specific taste.
This guitar is quite a heavy piece of kit, so I advise anyone getting one to invest in a good thick strap to avoid hurting your shoulder when playing it, strap locks are a must with this guitar because it's weight.
A tip on volumes. I find that when you have the neck selector switch set for both necks that the 12-string neck tends to be slightly louder than the 6-string neck, so keep the volume control on the 12-string neck on 9 not 10 when using this setting.
One word of warning, this IS an SG. So sadly like all other Epiphone SG's it is somewhat neck heavy, however if you invest in a good thick strap this should provide enough resistance to stop it taking a neck dive.
However ,alas, there is one major disadvantage to this guitar. It is almost impossible to play the frets 17-18 onwards because of the shape of the body.
Advantages: Twice the options for not much more money Disadvantages: Big and heavy
...to get to try an Epiphone G-1275 Custom in a guitar shop recently. I'd been dying to get my hands on one for ages, so I wasn't going to miss the opportunity. Now, I have to be honest, unless you're the next Slash or Jimmy Page, then the main reason to get a twin neck guitar is likely to be pure pose value, which I have to admit I'm totally guilty of. Not only are they very heavy, but they're a bit on the clumsy side due to the sheer size of them. ... ...---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The company:
The Epiphone company was officially registered in 1923, originally as a manufacturer of banjos. For the next 34 years they produced banjos, together with a range of archtop style guitars. In 1957, Chicago Musical Instrument, who also owned Gibson, bought Epiphone for $20,000. As a consequence, Epiphone became a division of Gibson, and manufacturing ...
