I have found this to be an excellent all round printer and superb value for money.
It takes the cheaper epson compatible cartridges for an excellent quality photo print, it also allows you to print to the edge of the sheet, great for brochures, etc
For photo scanning it is easy as you can use the single button scan on the printer to save to file the only problem i've found this locks every now and again and you have to restart the printer. It also has a habit of taking two sheets of paper through at the same time
The printer is also extremely easy to configure over a local area network for shared use and allows an optional print preview setting.
It also doubles as a colour or mono photo copier and allows multiple copies to be printed
