As a head of department - I brough 5 of these and have not been let down yet except for my one gripe (see below).
I have them all mounted from the ceiling and all project onto a whiteboard or a SMART board. ...the laptop or computer will send the data to the projector as if it was plug and play. However, the only thing I have had trouble with is when I play a DVD or an mpeg clip for the class, the data gets lost. Sometimes, its when I have it on battery power (I don't know if this is the reason or not) but when I plug the mains into my laptop, the laptop seems to have more 'juice' to send an image to the data projector. The connections are simple and quick - the laptop or computer will send the data to the projector as if it was plug and play. I know the F5 function on most laptops will send an image to a data projector.
The remote control has useful features for teachers - the best on eis 'freeze' - unfortunately not for the pupils but you can freeze an image from the data projector and still work on your laptop - useful for seemless transitions between MS applications - if you are presented a project for example.
A pointer - controlled by arrow buttoms (up, down, left and right) - good to highlight areas of a graph or a particular area on the screen).
Function button to swtich between a video or DVD player or your laptop - again most laptops now play DVD' so useful if you only have a video player to show your schools (now dating) video collection.
I assume that this would equally be useful in the office because its small, compact and easy to set up to present ideas to colleagues and/ or bosses and clients.
Advantages: Portable, quick to turn on/off, very easy to set up and use. Disadvantages: Loud cooling system, rubbish internal speaker.
I bought 10 EpsonEMPS4 projectors for school I work for at summer 2006.
Below you will find my personal opinion after one year of using and maintaining that product, but first short description.
EpsonEMPS4 is updated (in 2006) version of EMPS3. Epson's EMPS(x) line of projectors is design to suit mobile and office users. And it does it perfectly.
It's small (33X25X9cm) and light (2.6kg). It comes with small remote control and a bag with shoulder strap.
It's brightness (1800 ANSI lumens) and resolution (800x600) is sufficient to display presentation (text, photos and short movies) at 2-6m distance onto white wall or whiteboard (usage professional project screen will improve image brightness and sharpness) in bright room.
It has three types of video inputs (15 pin VGA, S-video and composite video input), so at the same time ...
