...The Epson Stylus Colour 880 printer, has given me trouble-free printing since I bought it back in 2000 when it first came out. Previously I had owned the Espon 740 model that was similar in design, but tended to be somewhat noisy.
The set up was fairly straightforward, I was running Windows Me operating system at the time. I just put in the CD and it loaded the driver no problem. Like the 740, it has a monitor window the pops up when you print showing you what is ink remains in the cartridges. There are two of these, black and colour, the latter of which is of the three colour variety - cyan, yellow and magenta. If like me, you don't mind messing about with inks, they are easy to fill with refill kits I buy from Tesco. The Epson cartridges tend to be fairly expensive, but this model is un-chipped and that means you can buy cloned...

...This printer is one of the best I have found for the money, with a price point just a little over £100 pounds. Epson on the other hand do not, they use a permanent print head. This is because the technology Epson use on the 480, 680 and 880 print heads does not heat the ink at the print head to project the ink onto the page. This means the print heads last a hell of a lot...

Advantages: Fast, economical, Excellent quality Disadvantages: Looks a bit outdated
...I've owned my Epson880 for three years now and despite various printer changes since then, I still own the 880. Working for a graphics company its important I get good quality print outs and the epson880 offers this and more.
After purchasing about 5 printers in the past 3 years, I now use the epson880 on my Mac, the enormous flexibility means it can be used on Windows (95 - XP) and Apple (OSX) it also has USB and parallel connections making it ideal for use with older or newer computers.
It is very reliable, you are well informed before the ink is to run out and head cleaning is fast and not needed very often.
The speeds are high, with about 11pages per minute in colour and 13 ppm in black and white, making it ideal for the home or small office.
The quality is excellent with 2800 dpi, some of my newer 5760 dpi...
