Advantages: prints cd's Disadvantages: ink carts are very small, and run out quickly
...This is my first Epson printer, as I have always used HP printers, so was not sure what to expect.
I was attracted to this printer, because of its ability to print directly onto cd's, and that it has memory card slots for digital camera cards.
The printer has a sleek design, that is a pleasure to look at, and looks really professional sitting on my desk.
The Epson R300 also has a built in LCD display. This is the first printer I have owned with an LCD display, and I thought I would never use it. However it is a really useful tool for diagnosing any fault or helping with setup.
The CD/DVD printing tray is provided, and allows you to directly print onto printable CD/DVD's. The operation of this though, is fully explained in the manual, and I had to speak who owns one to get some advice on feeding it in, but once you know how...

Advantages: BETTER DESIGN, QUIETER, GOOD PHOTO AND DVD/CD PRINTING. Disadvantages: I HAVE FOUND NONE TO DATE.
.... Photograph print quality is better with the semi-tone colours of Light Magenta and Light Cyan.
The printer does not seem over heavy on ink usage. This can be a factor when considering the purchase of a new printer since ink can be costly. I admit it. I do use compatibles! This might well ruin the warranty of the printer? Oh dear! The life of the printer? No, not at all. I do resist filling the spent cartridges from a top-up kit though. Too much hit and miss! To say nowt of MESS! I used to do this at one time. Believe me. It is not worth the bother.
My experiences of printers goes way back. I would purchase another Epson like this one again to do the job I need it to, I would certainly go for another R265. This one is doing very well. As I mentioned earlier, time will tell.
I do know why the previous Epson, the R260 went soon after the 12...

Advantages: Reasonable print quality. Cheap enough if you shop around. Disadvantages: Noisy. Terrible output tray. Horrendously expensive cartridges.
...good if a little slow on the higher dpi settings.
All in all its pretty average by Epsons standards and certainly no improvement on earlier models.
The biggest stumbling block is the inclusion of 'chipped' ink cartridges. The Epson system of a single black cartridge and a triple colour cartridge has always been perfectly adequate, particularly if you use black more than colour. A quick change of one or the other and back to work.
OK, so this is still the same BUT...the new type of cartridges aren't refillable by the home user and the Epson replacements are very expensive.
I am aware that there are 'kits' available to enable the re-use of Epson cartridges, but to be honest, its just not worth the hassle involved.
Now having said all that, I am still a fan of Epson printers, just not the 680....

I bought this about eighteen months ago after seeing the adverts with Natalie Imbruglia. I popped into town and while I was there I decided to go to boots and treat myself.
I went into Boots and was looking around for ages. I knew what I wanted but I more
