outstanding combination of quality, reliability and value for money. However, unless these highly engineered products are complemented by Epson consumables to match, users cannot expect to fully capitalize on their investment. Epson understands that printing is a process, with printer, inks and paper working together to offer the ultimate in quality output. With this in mind, each of Epson consumables features innovative design, meticulous development, precision manufacture and rigorous quality control, ensuring that the hardware continues to offer optimum performance throughout a long, trouble-free, working life.

Advantages: Reliable, straight forward to use Disadvantages: Output tray a bit too flimsy
...So eventually the torture is over, I've bitten the bullet and brought another A3+ Epson after one too many torturous moments of trying to cajole my Epson 1520 into action! Following past Epson experiences I didn't expect to ever be persuaded to buy another one, but somehow it just happened! With a lack of choice in the A3+ inkjet printer affordable ranges, I reluctantly invested more money into the Epson empire. Although, now that I have this one I have to say my thoughts have changed. Sometimes it's worth giving that second chance in life…. Even to printer manufacturers!
Price:
There seems little point in telling all of the ins and outs of a printer, without first telling you what it will cost. As with all things, its best to scour around for the best price, but most seem to range between £330 and £360 for this printer. Its...

Advantages: Prints like Cheetah on speed, quality is like 20/20 vision with vision enhancing glasses, decent value for money. Disadvantages: Cannot use cheap alternative ink, has an arse bigger than my aunt May.
...'s that? Oh look! Loads of manuals and leaflets, a pair of paper roll holder thingies, the driver CD, a power cable, a grey stick-like plastic thingy that I have no idea what it is for, the paper support for the back of the printer and a pack of A4 sample photo paper to test out the printer's printing prowess. Oh wow... A4 photo paper... it's a bloody A3 printer for crying out loud, give us sample A3 paper! We've all seen the A4 photo printouts for goodness sake!
Hey what the heck? No USB or parallel port cable? Typical Epson arse wipers, they never give you a printer cable! You have to get one yourself if you want to get it chatting to your PC. On the subject of chatting, how does the printer chat to the PC? "Hey mate! Here's a 1 and a 0, and a 1 and another 1. Hey look another 0!" Binary chat or something?
Well, the printer can use...

Advantages: OK as an all round printer Disadvantages: Really noisy ink guzzler / expensive tanks
...round printer.
The cartridges are not exactly cheap either, the 'Intellichip' as I believe Epson calls it, to you and me the 'chipped cartridges' is a sales gimmick to boost the Epson cartridge sales - BE WARNED it does not monitor the amount of ink in the tanks BUT only ESTIMATES the amount of ink remaining by presumably counting the number of pages, for there is no feedback between the ink level and the chip, it is not the same as a water/oil/petrol guage on a car, and when one go's the printer can not be used at all.
To be honest, purchasing a set of cartridges for an Epson, one could purchase a Lexmark printer complete with cartridges. My advice when buying a printer is keep away from 'Chipped Cartridges' and Epson’s peizo print heads, I am now beginning to think that 'long life peizo heads is also another sales gimmick...
