I will launch straight in by informing you that this scanner is definitely not something you should purchase if you intend to use it casually around the home. The cost, and the features, imply that it is far more valuable to a small buisness rather than for personal use.
The GT 15000 is presented in it's packaging, along with the instruction manual, which I may add is very useful in every aspect. From setting the scanner up, to using the features, the manual has it all, and the answers to every question about the scanner will most probably be located in it.
The scanner itself has a large 11.7" x 17" scanning area. Although the design is not in my opinion, the smartest looking deisgn, however it's weight ( 13 kg) and sleek trim design ( 65.6 cm x 45.8 cm x 15.8 cm) makes it perfect for an office environment and takes up little space at all.
One neat feature about this product is the "Automatic document size detection" feature, in which the scanner acknowledges paper size. With that being the case, there is so there is no need for faffing about with any complicated settings. This of course is a benefit so no time at work is wasted, and things can be carried out efficiently.
Refering to the scanners size again, the design allows the scanner to easily cope with everything, ranging from small receipts to large sized scans such as financial reports, which of course is very useful.
The scanner's spped is magnificent. Each scanning task is performed by the scanner at speeds including 16 ppm for monochrome and 10 ppm in color with an optional ADF (letter size, 300 dpi, draft mode). As the instruction manual states: " It (The GT 15000) Enables busy workgroups to share a single scanner ".
This scanner is powerful and boasts a 600 x 1200 dpi resolution and 48-bit color for incredible detail on scans up to 11.7" x 17.
The scanner has a fast startup time and is ready literally within a few seconds. The scanner is capable of whizzing through two-page spreads in one single scan, and is it is capable of accommodating a variety of documents. It even offers an optional automatic document feeder festure, (ADF, for short) which enables scanning from up to 100 sheets without any user intervention, and without sacrificing image quality.

In addition, an optional network card is available, enabling busy workgroups to share a single scanner. So to sum things up: It is simple to set up and use, it speeds through print outs and can take ona variety of scanning projects. However its cost retail price of £761.40p, implies that it is a product much more suited to an office environment. I recommend this to you if you infact do own an office enviornment, if not, you should skip this item for something cheaper and more convinient.

...were met comfortably by the Epson GT15000.
I was a bit taken back by the shear size of the thing when it arrived, in its box and packaging it only just fits through the width of the average door frame! Having removed the scanner from its box we were left with a glorified piece of plastic, considerably smaller than the box it came in but of still fairly large proportions. Advantages: Full A3 Flatbed Scanner, Very Fast Disadvantages: Price, Glass can get scratched, Heavy (13Kg)
This A3 flatbed scanner was purchased to compliment an older EpsonGT12000 Scanner.
The initial setup was very straightforward, being both SCSI and USB, with the USB being the preferred method mainly for the convenience of being able to switch on the scanner without having to reboot the machine (which has to be done with SCSI if it wasn't on at bootup), and also not having to take the case off the PC to install a SCSI card.
It is also possible to connect it with an optional IEEE 1394 (Firewire) card, which can transfer data at up to 400Mbps, but I can't say how much it costs or if its easy to set up, apart from the fact that you have to remove the back of the scanner to insert the card.
Another optional extra available is an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), which allows you to scan in up to 100 sheets. The only downside is that ...
