Obviously Epson recommend you use the product with their own printers. They give a long list. Here are a few:- Stylus Colour, Stylus Photo, STylus Scan and IP. There are so many numbers, I dont want to bore you!

You can design you r transfer on any package you normally use. Personally I use Ulead PhotoImpact 5 but there are many better ones. Simply design your transfer and go to print. Ensure it will fit onto your desired garment.

Funny title you may think, for a review on T Shirt Transfers. All will beome clear as the review progresses!!
Why did I buy Iron On T Shirt Transfers?
Well, I am a bit of an impulse buyer and I have seen these in Viking Catalogues and Wallis Catalogues whilst at work and always wanted to have a go with them. Whenever we used to go to Scarborough, when I was little, my dad always used to buy us a T Shirt we had designed ourselves. They were not expensive or very good quality but the deisgn was ours and we loved it!!
Where did I buy the Iron On T SHirt Transfers?
I bought them from Wallis' Stationers in my home town but you can get from Staples, PC World, and all other places like that.
How much did they cost?
They cost around £10 for ten A4 sheets. I cant remember the exact price Im afraid. A bargain I think as you can make transfers as large as an A4 sheet or as small as a coin.
So, exactly what are Iron T Shirt Transfers?
Without stating the obvious, they are sheets of paper which you can print onto , using an Inkjet printer. Most households have these nowadays. When you have printed your design, you simply iron it onto a T Shirt.
Enough of the questions already! Let me explain!!
The sheets come in a stylish carboard envelope type packaging. The 'Epson Premium Quality' Logo is spread across the front oand back of the package. The majority of the packaging is white with a small band of navy blue at the top. It states that there are ten sheets measuring 210mm x 297mm or in other word, A4.
The only requirements for these sheets are:
White or light coloured T Shirt or fabric whic are 100% cotton or at least 50% cotton mix.
Obviously Epson recommend you use the product with their own printers. They give a long list. Here are a few:- Stylus Colour, Stylus Photo, STylus Scan and IP. There are so many numbers, I dont want to bore you!
Do not use in Laser printers or copiers as the paper will damage the machine!
The transfer sheets come with a Handling Manual. The manual seems quite thick but it is written in six languages so each language takes up a double spread only.
You can design you r transfer on any package you normally use. Personally I use Ulead PhotoImpact 5 but there are many better ones. Simply design your transfer and go to print. Ensure it will fit onto your desired garment.
When you go to print, you must invert image for T Shirt printing. Especially if your transfer is writing, otherwise it will be back to front on your T Shirt!!
This option is ususally on the print options page. It is just a little box to check.
You should also set Print Quality to 720 dpi.
Load the transfer sheet white side up and only load one page at a time to ensure success. Whent he printer does beginto print, hold it by one edge to ensure it loads into the printer straight.
You may have to wait a while whilst your PC processes your request and prints your transfer but be patient!
After five or so minutes, your design should have printed. Looks good eh!?! OOOh! This is much fun!! Still wondering where the Gorilla comes into it!?!
Trim around the edge of the design, as close as you can without distorting the image, leaving a 5 mm border around the edge. Try to transfer your image onto your garment as soon as possible within 24 hours.
To transfer the image, heat the iron to around 180 - 200 degrees Centigrade. Cordless irons are not recommended for use with these transfers as they tend to cool too quickly and do not to transfer the image to a high quality.
Place the garment onto a wooden or metal surface, protected by a piece of cloth or a THICK piece of paper. Why they dont just say an ironing board, I will never know! I used an ironing board!
Place the transfer on to the garment in the correct position and apply the iron in a steady pressure and hold for around ten seconds. Then work around the garment, along all the edges to ensure the transfer has stuck.
When you are sure the transfer has stuck sufficiently, leave the transfer to cool for at least two minutes then you can peel off the protective paper. You should, if you have it properley, be left with a custom designed T Shirt!!
To care for your transferred garment, you should was in cold water ideally without fabric conditioner, but I have washed them in a cool wash in the machine and they are fine. I do try not to wringe them too much as this may cause the transfer to crack and peel. But it is inevitable that this will happen eventually. It does on the most expensive items of clothing!
Included in the pack is a sheet to use when re-ironing your transfer, to stop the iron smudging your design. It is just like a piece of 'Over Head Projector' plastic film. It is quitehandy for use with other clothes as well as transferred T Shirts.
Okay, do you wnat to see what I made with my transfer sheet? Well, I have added a picture so you can see. I took the picture on my Digicam on a recent visit to Flamingo Land. It is of a Chimpanzee, picking his nose. We added 'Zach's Best Friend' to beneath the picture and, voila, a new T Shirt!!
Great fun at a considerably modest price! Hope you have fun too and thank you for reading!
