Full review

When I was picking a scanner i thought long and hard about it. This scanner is the one that I decided on. I bought it about 6 mouths ago for about £90. The reason I chose this was because of the specs:
2400 dpi with Micro Step Drive, Dynamic Range Control and Simultaneous RGB scanning produces smooth, clear images with high colour consistency and depth. With the optional Transparency Unit, scanning 35-mm film negatives and slides is an absolute breeze
When it arrived I plugged it in, placed the CD in the drive and it did the rest. it took about 5 mins. The only problem with it is the software, it crashes not just occasionally but a lot and I have tried so hard to fix it but you can use other software such as Photoshop. My favourite feature is the 35-mm film scanner which you can use with black and white and colour film to excellent effect.
7/10

Review of Epson Perfection 1260 Photo by Kate1981

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: software

I have just recently bought this scanner for home and I am very pleased with it. It was cheap and it works very well for what I need it for. It did take me a little while to get used to the software, but once I sat down and had a good look through the programme, it is very simple. i did scan a photo in and it had all red lines going through it - I am sure I will be able to sort this out with a little messing around. This is my first scanner (for ...
...Very simple to use (once you get used to the software)and good value for money! I would definately recomend this to anyone looking to buy a scanner. Ok adding some more on after reading the comments: The scanner cost about £60 and I bought it with my computer off the internet from Dell. I no longer have the red lines going through my photos and I dont know about the service call centre, as I haven't had to use it yet! This is my first scanner, ... Read review

Manufacturer's product description

The combination of powerful features, ease-of-use, high quality and affordability with the Epson Perfection 1260 has taken home scanning to new levels. Technologies that are often found only in advanced scanners are standard in this new and incredibly versatile scanner. It is now a case of home scanning with a very real difference - the Epson difference. An optical carriage movement of 2400 dpi with Micro Step Drive, Dynamic Range Control and Simultaneous RGB scanning produces smooth, clear images with high color consistency and depth. With the optional Transparency Unit, scanning 35-mm film negatives and slides is an absolute breeze. With a total of 10 applets, the Epson Smart Panel makes it an absolute snap to make the perfect scan for photos, OCR, e-mail, Web and even Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). With direct scanning to P.I.M. (Print Image Matching) format, photograph scans feature colors more vivid than scans restricted to the traditional sRGB color space. With a single press of one of the scanner's four buttons, the scanner enters auto mode and delivers optimum scans, every time. The Perfection 1260 Photo model comes standard with a versatile 35-mm slide adapter unit for scanning negatives and slides.
