Advantages: Ease of use and stability Disadvantages: slight grey background in photocpy mode
...of the scanner launches the epson software (smart panel) and from there you can choose which option you want to use, such as photocopy (so it scans straight to your printer), scan to file, scan to web, email etc. You can even scan to convert the image to send to your PDA although that function I have not had need to try out.
Like all scanners there's a bit of noise whilst it is doing its job and in the copy mode you get a slightly grey background ... ...your printer will ruin it anyway and there's no point under spec'ing if you are requiring hi res scans for the web. For me it pitched in at the middle ground and has been more than adequate for decent resolution work coupled with an epson photo quality printer. ...
