Advantages: New and ground-breaking music from the ever diverse British band Muse. Disadvantages: Some are put off by the band's fluidity in trying new things. This album is a new thing.
The latest of Muse's five albums, The Resistance showcases yet another development through the history of this thoroughly original British band, and before it's release was originally speculated to be purely classical. Released on the 14th September 2009, the album reached no.1 in the UK Album Chart, equaling it's two predecessors, "Absolution" and "Black Holes and Revelations".
Uprising:
The first song on the album, this immediately opens out with a stunning bassline, futuristic arpeggios and a strong conspiratorial theme to the lyrics, which immediately sets the scene for the album, with similar themes mirrored in their songs "Resistance", "United States of Eurasia" and "MK Ultra".

It?s been a long time coming. 3 years since Black Holes and Revelations Muse have returned with The Resistance and with a weight of expectation that would crush lesser bands the Devon dwelling trio have found new strength, a new sound and new ways to rock your socks.
From the outset with first single Uprising, the tone is set. The lyrics are heaving with paranoia and the crowd-pleasing, pounding beats set us up for a wild ride. Resistance tugs the heartstrings with Matt Bellamy declaring ?Love is our Resistance? to the frantic drums of Dom Howard. As if it wasn?t clear enough from the opening track, Muse are back.

the piano makes a return in this one, with a more jazzy track with a much more upbeat rhythm. Lyrically i didnt like this one as much as others, but it was very listenable and quite catchy. If not a little in your face, but is that not why we love muse? There were also several quieter bits featuring ornementation with the piano which mixed things up a bit.
