When the need arose for a new printer there was only ever one name in the frame and that name was Epson. Epson for years now have been top of the field when it comes to printing from home and even their top of the range printers get full marks from the pro printers and photographers.
I have very limited printing needs so when my eyes caught sight of the Epson SX200 I thought that it would be perfect and after several weeks of use I can honestly say I was correct. This printer makes it so easy to copy, scan, and print everything from basic text documents to colour photos it is unbelievable.
The Durabrite inks that it uses offer great photo reproduction but don't worry if you are looking to replace genuine Epson inks with compatible cheaper options then this printer does accept those inks even though Epson would have us believe otherwise.
This printer has a maximum printing speed of up to 44 pages per minute but it is of course a fair bit slower when printing full colour glossy photos. One of the most impressive things for me was how quiet this printer is, it is virtually silent when in operation unlike some of the earlier Epson's that were known to be a little noisy and have a lot of movement.
It connects to your PC quickly through high speed USb and it is very easy to install, the software that it comes with is also very easy to use and the instruction manual explains everything very, very clearly. I have not needed Epson`s after care service with this particular item but I can tell you from past experience that if you do need them they are excellent.
I would recommend this printer to anyone needing a versatile printer but if you are looking to be mainly printing glossy photos then you should really upgrade to a higher end R series Epson. This printer cost me just £43 several weeks ago but already I notice it has been reduced to an unbelievable £35 in some places and at that price it is a must have!
Advantages: wireless Disadvantages: not easy to connect to pc via usb
I'm no tech wizard but this was extremely easy to install and packs down well when not in use with the pull out sections for paper. Its convience is amazing! no longer do i need to download photos from the camera or phone,I can plug it in via the usb or memery card slots select my image and print, and its even wireless! so I dont have to move my laptop every time i want to print a document.I cant imagine how much money I'm going to save only having ...

Advantages: Copying and Scanning are fine Disadvantages: I have had loads of trouble getting it to print after replacing the ink
...asked me to review the Epson Stylus SX200 when I first got it, I may well have agreed with some of the other reviewers who rant about what good value for money it is. However, after owning one for about a year, my opinion has changed somewhat. The scanning and copying are first rate, I don't have a bad thing to say about them and, for the first six months, I would have said the print quality is ok for the price (you have to use the Best Photo setting ... ...fault for not using genuine Epson inks but I am not one of the priveledged few that can afford to buy the genuine article every time they need replacing. Anyway, changing the cartridges very often resulted in prints with a purple or orange tint - so logically you clean the print-head. Unfortunately, cleaning the print head consumes ink and, by the time you have cleaned the print-head enough to remove any colour bias, the cartridges are being flagged ...

Advantages: Great print quality - good price Disadvantages: A bit noisy
Good printer for everyday printing. Dissapointed that I cannot use it to print my greeting cards, never had a problem with my previous one, the Epsom 870C Stylus photo printer. It served me well for 6/7 years never had a problem. From an economic point of view, you cannotbeat Epson. I have compared with friends who have other makes of printers and cannot believe the amount of times they have to renew their cartridges, and they do very little graphics/colour ... ...separate colour cartridges so you only have to replace the one that is low.
It takes a while for it to start printing and it's not the fastest in the world but it is perfectly suitable for home printing, the quality is really good although I ahvent done full colour photos yet so cant comment.
Scans and copies well too ...

Advantages: print quality and ease of printing from sim card Disadvantages: initial set up on PC
this printer is a very easy printer to use when printing pictures from a digital camera sim card the print quality is the best ive come accross and it does not take long to print. the best thing about this printer is the ink cartridges, they are sold seperately so you dont need to go and buy a colour cartridge every time you just need to get the colour that has run out. this works out to be alot cheaper. the printer will also let you know how much ...

Advantages: Looks good Disadvantages: Made difficult to use compatible ink
...six, two of these are Epson SX200s. We have always used compatible ink, and have had no problems what-so-ever with compatibles; however, it would appear, as far as I can see, that Epson have things set up to dismiss my compatible cartridges.
Every time I want to print, a very annoying message flashes up telling me that I am using a compatible cartridge and asking if I want to continue! Well, yes! So I click on the button which then allows me to ... ...EPSON!
My concern is that Epson try to take too much control over our personal choice regarding the ink. If they don't like us using compatible ink (of which we have bought thousands of) then they should reduce their prices. After all if the companies who produce compatible ink make a decent profit out of it, then I reckon Epson can afford to reduce their prices accordingly.
If you intend to use the sensibly priced and equally as reliable compatible ...

Advantages: Excellent print quality, Looks good, Ink not that expensive Disadvantages: None
...I bought this all in one printer a few months ago for £80. I got this particular printer because I had used Epson before and had no problems with them. I also liked the look of the printer because of its glossy black finish on the scanner lid. I checked the price of ink for a few printers I was looking at and found the ink for this printer to be cheaper than others. It takes 4 ink cartridges.
The software that came with the printer was easy to install.
I have used the printer for printing text and photographs onto A4 and 6x4 photo paper. The print quality is excellent. The menu on the printer is very easy to use. You select what size paper you are using and print. It can print up to 34 page per minute and the paper tray can hold 120 sheets.
It can also be used for photocopying. You select whether you want a colour or black...
