The salesman advised me to set it up on the desktop initially as it would be hard wired via USB. If you hear this don't let it put you off. The set-up works fine even if you have a single laptop but you must ensure the printer is connected to it via USB when the initial printer setup is carried out. ...up and it now works wonderfully. Text documents are very quick and clear. Photographs when printed on photo paper are incredible ! Just as good as anything from a shop.
I only had one problem which was not a fault with the printer but I will mention it. I initially couldn't get wireless printing to work. It turned out it was my firewall blocking the request being sent to the printer. I had to manually change my BitDefender settings ... more

We have three computers in the house, one desktop & two laptops which are used wirelessly. Previously, I had a simple low cost printer connected to the desktop. This was fine but in recent months use of the desktop has declined so it has stood unused most of the time. To print it was a case of transfer document to USB stick, switch on desktop, print from USB stick, switch off desktop. What a pain !!

Contents of package
The paperwork supplied consists of manual, printer set-up guide & wireless set-up guide. I was not over impressed as they were all multi lingual without splitting each language into its own section. I personally found this more difficult to follow.Items supplied with the printer: USB cable Power cable Cartridges (4 seperate colours) Manuals CD containing drivers & software
Don't worry about needing to buy extra software for using the device. On the CD there are items to use when scanning & photo printing. The Photo editing options are quite interesting as it allows photos of people to be altered to make them look slimmer or fatter as desired !!
Conclusion
Overall, a lovely device to work with in all aspects. The only thing that lets it down is that its rather noisy in my opinion. However, to be fair, the one we have at work is just as noisy and that cost £2000 !!

The old printer was an Epson DX6000 and had served us well, but had networking became an issue when the number of PCs in the household grew exponentially. Vista seemed to create more problems, and it just didn't like one laptop in particular, returning a paper jam message whenever the laptop was attached via USB. The inkjets became clogged, and no amount of squirting ink through would clear them completely. If only the jets could be removed for cleaning, ... ...in at £65, while the Epson offering, the SX405W was more pricey at £79.99. The separate ink tanks of the Epson are a definite advantage in keeping the running down, so the decision was made. I find that PC World seem to be pretty good with printers, rather than my usual supplier of IT related things, Ebuyer. In to the store to wait for an assistant to help. I found the unit on the shelf, but no boxed items could be see. "I want that one please" said ...

Advantages: Wireless function is easy, print from anywhere. Disadvantages: While the black finish is nice, it really is a dust magnet.
After having Epson printers before, I decided to go for another one. But this time, one with wireless capabilities. In box with the printer is the power cable, USB cable (you need these for the initial set up), a set of cartridges and a small pack of photo paper. Was really easy to set up. We use 3 laptops at home and for the first set up I needed the USB cable. Follow the prompts on the discs and it automatically detects your wireless network. For ... ...quick. You can print direct from a memory card without the use of a computer. I have decided to only use original Epson cartridges this. Make sure you shop around, as some good prices are to be had. Overall I am very happy with the product. ...
