I bought my first printer ages ago along with my then new computer. I had till recently a canon sj series, a printer and scanner and I’ve paid then, over £200, a lot of money for me then and even now…but then I believed that a expensive printer was for life.
How wrong was I? What a completely pile of rubbish that purchase was! Sooner than I have anticipated I started having problems. It was ‘eating' ink even when I wasn't using it, so I had to change the cartridges on a weekly basis, the quality of the prints was a disgrace, the noise was making was freaking out my cats and it would take for ever to print just a single paper without any images…I used to print everything in black and white to save time and money as the black cartridge was cheaper but with no real results. It also loved to eat the paper and I had to keep
the paper straight every time I want to print something and couldn’t dream of printing anything that it will needed more than one page…
It was a waste of money and space but I kept it, and pretended that I had a printer. So I was doing all my printing at work till I’ve decided that I really needed a printer since I had assignments for my course to print and digi photos which I couldn’t do at work….But my problem was that I couldn’t seem to afford one….
So I wanted to find a decent printer at a very reasonable price, really cheap actually that I could afford, a printer which will print decent photos and that won’t eat ink faster than I eat my dinner. Forget the many gadgets, the all in one and the extra gimmicks, I’ve just wanted a printer.
So when I saw the Epson Stylus C62 the first thing that caught my eye was the very low price. Under £70 and a free delivery, nice appearance and then I was blown away by its many features. Far too many that you would have normaly expected from a cheap printer.
Epson Stylus C62 is an inkjet colour printer with a 5760 optimised dpi print resolution. It is great for printing letters, invitations, greeting cards, leaflets and newsletters to more sophisticated DTP documents, downloads and photos
And it is fast! The first time we used it we were blown away by the speed, being living till then in the stone age of printing….it kinda seemed to ‘spit out’ the document. It is incredibly fast and the quality of the prints is excellent. Apparently it’s 14ppm for black and 13.9ppm for colour output which according to the manufactures it means ‘printouts are completed without unnecessary delays’. And the document comes out dry, no waiting for the ink to dry, very handy when you are printing photos as it has something called ‘the Epson’s patented Quick Dry inks’.
As for the photos the quality is really good as it seems that they used the latest technology and something called the ‘lifelong Micro Piezo Printhead and patented Variable- Sized Droplet Technology which ensure the finest and most accurate ink droplet placement ever’. In plain English your pictures will look really good.
It comes with the ink cartridges, although there is a little warning that some has already been used for testing purposes but the thing is that I’ve got my printer three months now and there is still enough ink left for a couple more weeks and I have printed a lot of documents and quite a few pictures as well. But the best thing is that it shows you how much ink you’ve got and what kind of cartridge it uses so no nasty surprises there. Also the cartridges are re-sealable and can be interchanged and stored for future use. It can autotest for problems and clean the head when your printings start getting a bit smudgy.
It is very easy to install, ten minutes the most, wait for detection then install the drivers and it is ready to go…
It also comes with sample paper so you can have an idea what to use for your prints, although photo paper tends to be a bit expensive in general .
The only disadvantage is that it doesn’t come with printer leads or USB cables and perhaps some might find a bit noisy but for that price....I don’t think it matters much.
A great printer, excellent quality, ink that lasts and very fast….Perfect for people with low budget.
