I have had 3 different printers in the last 10 years, and the Epson Stylus C62 is my 4th. I decided I wanted a photo quality printer, but was on a budget and was looking to pay under £70. I wanted something that would give me decent quality photographs, but that could handle all my other printing requirements (general documents, letters etc).
Although about 18 months old now, at the time of purchase it was considered a compact model and is certainly good if you are limited on space. The price then was good and I am sure now you could pick one up for much less. The software (printer driver) that it came with was easy to install and I was quick to set up and get working. The quality of photographs is good, I wouldn't say excellent, but definitely of a moderate to good quality.
However, I have nothing else positive to say about this printer.
I have never, ever, had a machine that is so finicky and temperamental. It claims there are paper jams when there are not. It dithers for so long before printing some times you often think it's stopped working. The print heads clog continually. Use anything but the expensive Epson black and colour cartridges and you are in for nothing but poor prints and clogged print heads. Even with Epson cartridges I have had problems. If you are using anything but standard printer paper, again, the printer often gets confused and thinks there is either a paper jam or that there is no paper in there - using even very thin cardboard or photo paper causes these problems, things that a modern printer should be able to handle effortlessly.
Although the Epson Stylus C62 is a photo quality printer, it does not have edge-to-edge printing so you won't be able to print directly onto photo size paper without having unsightly white (and annoyingly unequal!) edges.
Getting through to their support line is always time consuming (expect to wait half and hour before a real person gets on the phone to deal with you!) and has provided me with varying levels of success.
I have had in the past 2 Canon printers and 1 HP printer and in comparison the C62 is very poor. I can say unequivocally that I will never, ever even consider an Epson printer again after this.

Sounds like I am one of the lucky ones, here.!! I am running a C86 and a C66 at present, plus an Epson Aculaser - from Inmac!! - heads do clog if the machine is near a radiator etc, but the instructions do warn you about that. I have had a few calls to engineers over the years and nearly always had next day at-home service. - T
