Full review
I am currently a student at uni and printing costs 5p for black and 40p for color per A4 sheet at the Learning Resource Center (Just a fancy name for the Computer Building). It is very expensive indeed until one day when my flatmate brought back this massive box with the words All In One printer. I assist him in carrying the huge box and help him set it up it the room.

The printer costs him GBP 100 from PCWORLD and it was basically a Printer, Scanner and Copier all together in one machine. I was very glad that I can finally not just do my printing in my flat but also scanning and photocopying.

What's In The Box?
You will find a couple of one sheet illustrated guides, driver CD, one multi language manual, a USB cable, a power cable, a pack of sample photo papers and additional accessories for the printer. The printer also comes bundled with a set of cartridge, one black and one color.

Setting It Up
Setting up the printer couldn't have been easier with the large illustrated coloured one sheet guide. You can easily be guided by the pictures rather than reading lines after lines of text that gets you nowhere. The english used is basic and understandable with little jargons. It tells you tp pop the bundled CD into your computer and start going on from there. WARNING! Do not turn on the printer before installing the driver during setup until a window pops up telling you to do so. After setting it up and installing the driver, you are ready to use the printer.

The Printer
The size of the printer is quite big and looks fat. It doesn't matter with the amount of functions it has. It can sometimes take up lots of space depending on how you place it. I usually place it under the desk to save table space. It has a small LCD display that displays the mode and other important information of the task that it is performing or whenever an error occurs. There is also a red LED that blinks whenever there is an error such as no paper or misallignment. Behind the printer is where the power cable and usb cable goes.

The Software
The bundled software makes your life easier. It manages your work with the printer. You can do printing, scanning and copying with it. It also monitors the content of your cartridge. It gives out a warning when it is low.

Printing
Like any regular printers, printing can be done from any programs like Microsoft Office or Adobe Acrobat Reader. Just click it and you can change the printer settings like the paper size, quality and tones. A print preview is also available from the bundled software.

Scanning
Scanning can be done using the software or the buttons located in front of the printer.

Copying
Copying can be done using the software or using the button for easy one click operation. The copying can be done in colour or black and white.

The Cartridge
The cartridge is expensive and the content is usually monitored by the software. It gives out a warning when it is low. I usually ignore the warning and continue printing until it really can't print. If you change your cartridge as soon as the low warning appears, you are wasting lots of ink that equals to $$$ because the cartridge is expensive. I bought compatible cartridges for this printer to save cash. It only costs me GBP14 for a colour and black cartridge together when buying online. It was not advisable by Epson for us to use compatible cartridges but I just don't bother. The quality is exactly the same to my opinion.

I hope this helps. I currently have a HP all in one printer which features a standalone fax, printer, scanner and photocopier. This might be worth a look if you are planning to start a home based office.

Take Care!
