EPSON have a very respectible name in the printing industry. With there cheap innovative designs and quality printers, they lead the market along side Hewlett Packard. This printer maybe quiet large in size but in the long run it is cheap, and saves the seperate scanner and colour photocopier.
Speed --------- This printers respective 10ppm in Black and 9ppm in Colour seems a bit fast for the printer actually generates. It more likely prints around 7ppm in Black and maybe 5ppm in Colour. This is no real big deal if you only print occassionally though.
Cartridges -------------- Printer cartridges can be expensive for this printer if original Epsons are purchased, around £20.00 for a black and £28.00 for a colour. Although there are websites and computer specialists the supply compatible cartridges at reasonable costs around £7.00-£9.00 each.
Features ------------ The features this printer has to offer are exceptional, from its Standalone colour photocopier to its built in scanner. There really is alot of extras Epson have included. Although this multi function machine is big and bulky it still saves a lot of space and is very useful.
Design and Ease of Use ---------------------------------- The ease of use on this particular model is suprisingly user friendly considering the features supplied by Epson. The driver installation could not be simpler and the use in and out of Windows is dead simple. Design of this printer is unusual but asthetically pleasing to the eye. Along with its colour scheme it is a well designed and modern machine.
Print/Scan Quality ------------------------ Print quality on this printer is quiet exceptional compared to other low cost multi function machines. Sporting its 5760x720dpi colour printing this truely is a photo quality printer at heart. Scanning quality is not brilliant it is still of high standard, showing its 600x1200dpi you can still get a nice scan.
Customer Care ---------------------- Epson has a reasonable customer care service, technical support is readily available both via telephone and online if required. Warranty is maybe a bit short for such a complex machine but is adequate.
Price ------- The price on this machine is exceptionally low and cartridges can be fairly cheap depending where they are purchased. At 600 pages per black cartridge on an original Epson cartridge that makes it about 3p a page; and at 300 pages per colour cartridge on an original Epson cartridge its costs around 10p per page which is fairly reasonable.
Conclusion ---------------- Overall this printer is of excellent standard and good value for money. The features forced in to this model are amazing along with the print quality, scan quality and easy of use. This product is ideal for home use and home office but maybe not capable for a small office/business use.
A definite recommended product to home users.
