My Experience:-
When I was looking to buy a new printer I shopped around a fair bit and went in asking the same question in each store:- " I am looking for a cheap and efficient printer that will not run out of ink regularly and is not expensive to replace the cartridges." I was not looking for the highest quality printing in the world I just wanted middle of the road and good value for money. Without exception they all immediately said firstly you want an Epson and the pointed me towards the D68.

Usage:-
It is an entirely user-friendly printer (bar the lack of the USB Cable - see "What it doesn't come with below"!!!!). It was easier to install and put together. Well except removing all the packaging, apparently they do need to cover everything in plastic (which all needs to be removed) before boxing the item??? Once it is fully unpacked it really is very easy to put together and operate and the software that is loaded onto your computer really does tell you everything you could ever need to know. It's better at diagnosing problems than NHS Direct!!! You will always know what is wrong.
The print speed is good, I've known much slower and it always seems to get jobs done as quickly as I need.
Looks:-
You can see from the photo with the product heading that it is a nice looking machine. it also doesn't take up huge amounts of space which is good.
The extension arms of the printer are very good, especially because I have my printer on a ledge and it never drops the paper over the edge which is great. It also closes up very neatly which means that it's easy to tidy away when not in use.
Printing Quality:-
I have been thrilled with the printer, it has been reliable and produces great quality black and white documents and colour printing and the photos are good too! It is not Laserjet supersonic quality, but for my general everyday printing needs it is more than adequate. I had to find bad points and ok there are printers with higher resolution on the market but in its band there really is no other printer that has the quality and the value for money.

The photo printing dries very quickly and does not smudge, as long as handled with care - when my cat walked across one photo with wet paws it the photo came off second best, but other than that it has been great.
Ink Usage:-
I thought the first black cartridge ran out very quickly, but since then they have lasted just as long as far more expensive printers. The Epson D68 range is designed so that you can replace each separate cartridge individually which really reduces costs because you do not have to replace an entire colour cartridge every time one colour runs out. This reduces wastage and saves money. Epson cartridges also are not that expensive if you buy them online, I've found sites that will do each cartridge for around £4.50 which is not half bad for cartridges.
What it comes with:-
Power Supply; Driver; Cartridges:- Black, Yellow, Blue and Magenta Photo Starter Pack: 13 x 18cm (5 x 7") Epson glossy photo paper; 13 x 18cm (5 x 7") photo album.
More Importantly - What it does not come with….
A USB Cable - now ok you can buy one of these for £10.00 or less, but when you are comparing the price of printers in a store it is useful to know this before you go to buy the printer, as obviously most printers do come with a USB cable. This is the biggest disadvantage of the whole unit!!!
Specification:-
Weight: 4 kg Max Resolution - Black and White: 5760 dpi x 1440 dpi Max Resolution - Colour: 5760 dpi x 1440 dpi Interface:- USB RAM Installed - Minimum: 128 KB Media Types:- Envelopes, transparencies, plain paper, photo paper, semi-gloss photo paper, glossy photo paper, cards, heavy-weight matte paper System Requirements:- Microsoft Windows 95, Apple MacOS 9.1 or later, Apple MacOS X 10.2 or later, Microsoft Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP Warranty: 1 Year
Conclusion:-
It is a user-friendly and simple printer that is very good value for money and prints pretty nicely for most people's requirements. It's not the best of the best but as a bog standard general printer it is great! I would recommend it for those everyday people who like to print their own good quality photos and documents. Just remember the USB cable!!!!!!!! It looks smart as well!
Please let me know if you would like further information or if you have any questions. It is also really helpful if you rate me then I can gauge what level my reviews need to be at. Many thanks.

Epson Stylus D68 Photo Edition Printer
I have had this particular printer for some time now and seeing as I have been overall fairly satisfied with it I thought I would share with you my thoughts and feelings about it.
So it must be over a year since I purchased this printer from my local Staples store. What caught my eye was the fact that it was on a special offer with over £30 off the recommended retail price and therefore I only ended up paying ... ...around £12 for the proper Epson ink but you can get the set for around £24 which of course works out a lot cheaper to buy the set and just keep the ones in reserve that haven’t run out for when they eventually do.
The main body of the printer looks fairly good with black and grey colourings and minimal buttons sitting on the top of the product giving it a simple yet sleek appearance. The paper tray can be taken off for storage or kept on to hold ...

Price and Packaging.
------------------------
I paid £49.99 for this printer and was quickly assisted by a sales assistant who really wasn't much help but sold me the printer no questions asked. It stated on the box that it comes with a free photo album (small and pretty crappy really) and 10 sheets of tester glossy photo paper. The box states that it is connected by USB cable ... ...my needs.
I can't comment on the ink usage as I have not had it long enough to think about buying any refills. It looks good and does it's job what more do I need.
7.5/10 for Epson D68 Printer.

Advantages: Cheap easy to install and cheerfull Disadvantages: NO USB CABLE INCLUDED
...Now for some strange reason Epson have not included to required USB cable to connect to my computer, so a little petty larceny and a visit to the admin dept to chat up the pretties was required to rectify this.
Installation was easy as stealing a USB cable from admin. You slap the CD in, let the installation wizard do its magical stuff, plug in the recently stolen USB cable, plug in the cartridges (Black, Cyan, Yellow and Magenta) and its ready. ... ...printer comes bundled with the Epson creativity suite which enables you to print off pictures with a variety of paper options. This is easy to navigate and the menus are easy to understand. The quality of the colour prints is pretty bloody good so not complaints here at all.
After using it for less than a week I am happy and content with the quality and speed and have even found a source of cheap cartridges for 3 quid a pop so I have no complaints ...

Advantages: Quick, separate ink cartridges Disadvantages: None I know of
...of this printer is great. Epson are apparently the best quality printers, so for £35-£40 you cant go wrong. With the printer, to connect it to your computer you must have a USB cable. I have used this with a wireless network, which works great too, although through a network you cannot see the ink levels.
Setting it up was extremely easy, just plug it in with the CD in and it all does everything automatically.
I have not tried borderless printing, ... ...Paper, borderless printing on photo paper will leave you never needing to go to the Photo Processing shops again. The print speed is also very fast, compared to my old printers.
I would highly recommend this printer, I originally only wanted the cheapest I can find, but now I can't see why you would want to pay any more. ...

...bought this printer because my Epson C66 died I paid £43 from ebuyer.com okay it doen't come with a usb cable but most printers don't and you can purchase them from as little as a £1 the D68 is just a C66 with a face lift it the print quality is very good not photo perfect one thing that should be noted is that if you planning to print on gloss paper get Epson R220 or above as when printing on gloss it tends bleed and run but it's very good on photo ... ...even the compatable ones obviously Epson just change the part numbers to fool people into buying the more expensive D68 ones you will get a stupid message on screen saying you are using non original Epson cartridges and YOUR PRINTER WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN 30 SECONDS (only joking Epson be warned I've Copyrighted the self destruct thingy) just click OK and the stupid message goes away oh and just to to dispel the propaganda about using compatable inkjet ...
