Introduction

I dont really do a lot of printing, but when I bought my new computer just over a year ago, I thought I'd get one, just in case I ever needed to do some printing. So the one the guy in the shop recommended for me was this Epson Stylus D92, the reasonably priced printer by the Big Name Company! At this sales pitch, I thought, Excellent, must be a fairly decent printer right? Guess again...

Picture Quality

The first time I used this, the picture quality would be as you would expect, pretty good. However, as the year has progressed, the picture quality has deteriorated fairly rapidly. It is now at the point where I just wont use this printer as the picture it prints out is indistinguishable! No matter how many times I change the ink, or clean the printer heads, the picture quality will not get any better... I have just given up using it now!

Printing Speed

For text documents, the printing speed is quite reasonable. I cant give you exact times, but it wont leave you waiting too long for your text document. However for large picture files, it is a different story. For a full page picture or photo, you are looking at a couple of minutes for one side. Although it is quite slow at printing, for someone who dosent print too much like myself, it was not a huge issue.

Ease of Use

This Printer is really easy to use! For my computer, which has Windows 7 Operating System, I did not even have to install the software which came with it. I simply plugged it in and printed right away. Windows automatically detected the drivers and the like and installed it automatically. However, on my mothers computer, which is Windows XP, I had to install the software myself, but again this was not a huge issue as it is a very easy process, you simply insert the disk and follow the steps on screen. Easy Peasy!

Value for Money

I guess its not too made for the money. You can pick one of these up fairly cheap, I think it was £30 for me from PC world a year ago, so at a guess I would say its even cheaper now. However, I would not recommend this to a friend due to its rapidly deteriorating picture quality!!! I think next time I buy a printer, I would go for a more expensive one, as I know that you can get all on one devices, that have like a printer, scanner, photo tranfer, wireless connectivity, ipod dock, oven and a fridge in them!!!! Orrrrrrr something similar to that...

And another thing!

I forgot to add this in one of the other sections and its getting late so I cant be bothered searching for an appropriate place to fit it in, so here it is:
This printer may be cheap to buy, but it goes through ink cartridges like theres no tomorrow, which really jacks up the total price of this printer. I was discussing this matter with my Computer Science teacher, and he informed me that better printers use ink more efficiently, so even though they are initally more expencive, you send less on ink... Mabye something to consider when buying a printer?
