The Epson DX4800 is a good value printer for those who want professional looking documents and photos. It is easy to install, just simply plug it in a spare USB socket in your computer and install the bundled software! Once setup you have access to an array of features including a photo printer, scanner and copier. The best part is, you don't even need a computer to use the copier and photo printing functions. The copier function simply consists of placing the document you wan't to copy in the copy/scanner bay and deciding what size paper you want and whether you want to copy in black and white or colour. Simple! Photo printing is even easier, with a built in memory card reader to print of your favourite snaps from your digital camera. The only thing the printer does lack infact, is a display to view your photos before printing. To scan just insert the object you want to scan in the bay on the printer, open up the software on your computer, then edit the quality settings to suit your preference before simply press 'scan'. Again, all easy to use. Finally the print function. This can be as easy as pressing print, but if you want there are alot of settings that can be fiddled with to edit the quality and speed of the print. There is monitoring software to display printer status and ink levels and also maintainence functions to keep your printer running smoothly. There are four serperate ink cartdridges; cyan, magenta, yellow and balck. How long the ink cartdridges last, depend on how much you use them but I've managed to pick up all four replacements for less than £15 from a local comuter shop. I believe that if you buy them from Argos however they cost over £20.
