WHAT THE EPSON LOOKS LIKE.
The printer is quite large, so does take up alot of space. The front and back are a dark grey colour. While the top is a light grey colour.
On the top, you can see a shiny small silver part, which sticks out slightly further from your printer. This is for the ease of opening your scanner and the photo copier part. Underneath that you can lift up a part where all the inks are placed.
At the back there is a small plastic part that holds the paper up straight, to get the best possible paper entrance into the printer. I have my printer in a cupboard, which every time i want to load my paper i have to drag it out. As if your paper is not that easy to load up, unless you can see what your doing.
Along the left hand side you have all your buttons that you may or may not use. The buttons are not easily identifiable as to what they are, as not all of them have at the side what they do. The on button and the A4 button are the only two that are listed, the others have pictures at the side, but to look at are not easy to work out what they are for, unless you read the instructions.
THE FUNCTIONS AND QUALITIES
PRINTING
Well printing really could not be easy, it does it all itself. All you have to do is click print on the page you wish to print, and a box comes up that tells you your ink levels and how many pages are left to print. This box also tells you if you ink is low or has run out, if it has run out you get a how to button that will show you how to change your ink, and help you along the way.
If a paper out, or paper jam occurs, the computer will also bring up that message, along with the how to button again.
The quality really could not be any better. No smudges after touching, no fuzziness on what you have printed. This has to be the best quality of printing that i have seen, and it does approimatly 1 full page of printing a minute, abit slower on printing pictures, but fast all the same.
There is also the facility as with most printers, under properties to do a nozzle check, clean printer and to maintain your printer to the highest standard.
I have never had any problems so far with the printing part of my Epson.
PHOTOCOPIER
This really is simple, you just lift the lid, olace the paper in and press copy. Although you do have to make sure you line your paper up in the correct place, or it may not print this out properly. You may have to look in your instruction booklet, to find out the button to use.
Although i do not use my photocopier much, i have never had any problems from it and all my things i have copied, have come out in excellent condition. With no parts missing, but as stated if this does happen you may have placed you document in wrong.
SCANNER
Well i wish i could say the same about my scanner. As i never use my scanner, i did not realise right away, but it does not work. All the software is loaded in for it, i have deleted it and reinstalled it still no joy. It just says scanner cant be found. I have checked all my leads are in the correct places.
Maybe this is just my computer, or i got a bit of a dodgy printer, but i rarly want to use the scanner, so this was no big deal, i still think i got a bargain.
IS IT EASY TO INSTALL
Yes! This comes with a full instalation disc, that works itself. You click on what you want installing and all the rest is done automatically. I would recommend that you install all components, but if you decide not to, you can do that at a later date.
The hardest part for me was putting all the leads in the right place, i have not got a clue about the backs of hard drives, so i got my husband to put them in, but he seemed to do that with ease.
THE INK
The ink on this, can be quite expensive, as you have to buy each colour individually, whereas with some printers the colour ones come in one cartridge. So with this you have four seperate colours: Black Cyan Magenta and Yellow
I found these available at http://www.inkworldwide.co.uk/products.php?category_id=75 for just £12.39p for the set of four, with free delivery, so is not that expensive for four seperate cartridges. I purchase mine from a computer shop near me for £10 for the set of four, so really not much difference.
The inks are easy to install, as you get a step by step guide, of how to do this once your ink has run out.
WHAT COMES WITH THE PRINTER
Installation disc All leads needed Four ink cartridges Instruction manual Warranty
MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS
I have had this printer, for almost a year, and have never had any problems with it, except for the scanner not working. Although i am sure i was just unlucky on this. I could use my warranty but as i dont use it for anything, would just be too much messing about.
This is really easy to work and is very self explanitary, with easy to read instructions.
WHY WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PRINTER
Good quality printing Cheap Easy installation Easy to read instructions Fast printing.
WHY WOULD I NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRINTER
The only thing i would say is, as soon as you get it make sure all the parts are working. Also the size of this is abit off putting. Apart from that no other reason at all.
Thx for reading my review, i hope you find it helpful :-)
Advantages: Easy to use, Economical to run, Great Photo Quality printing without the price tag. Disadvantages: Lengthy installation and slow photocopying speed.
The Epson Stylus DX4850 in my opinion is one of the best compact all in one printers available for under £100.
Look:
The printer has a modern grey/silver look, which makes it attractive and suitable for the office or home environment, while at the same time not being obtrusive. It doesn't look tacky or plastic when scrutinised at a close range and had no out of place logos or advertising like some other printers have. At 320 X 460mm it is compact ... ...print quality compared to other Epson all in ones.
The print resolution of 5760 x 1440dpi makes it a top to mid range photo printer from a specification point of view; however, in my opinion it is this combined with the four cartridge printing that gives it the edge compared to competition, as this combines good colour blending with a high resolution. Providing the correct paper is used (ie glossy or hi gloss) then there is no grainy appearance ...

Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: Small black ink cartridge
This is the second Epson printer I have bought. I wore the last one out as I do a lot of printing.
I was reticent about buying a printer and scanner combined, but am glad I did as I can use it as a photocopier in colour as well as black and white.
The scanner is not super quick, but takes no longer than my previous scanner, and the quality of the scanned work is superb.
Installation was painless and the printer has behaved beautifully. There are ... ...one colour runs out then you only need to replace one colour.
I only have 2 small problems -
1. There is no large size black ink cartridge, so if you intend to do a lot of black printing then this needs to be born in mind.
2. When an ink cartridge runs out the printer won't work at all until it has been replaced. You are given plenty of warning that the cartridge is running out, so there is time to get a replacement, but if 2 are running out and ...

Advantages: All in one, easy to use, fantastic value Disadvantages: slow photocopy, vibrations while printing
Had great fun playing about with all the functions. Picture qua;ity is great, including enlargements and on plain paper. Picture quality from mobile phone transfer is brilliant. There is nothing you can't print with this machine. The photcopying is a bit slow but the quality is perfect. The scanner is a little slow but the quality of the pictures or the documents that are scanned in are perfect and it is easy to save everything that you scan into ... ...need all in one package and much as it looks bulky, it fits easily onto or under the desk. It even has closable doors to keep the dust from falling into the paper in and out trays. It even has a handy lever for printing envelopes and a compartment for your camera, mobile phone, etc. memory cards that can be transfered directly onto your ...

Advantages: Simple and easy to use Disadvantages: The cost of catridges
Well i wasnt ove impressed with this printer.
Bad things
1) The prices of the ink cartrigdes is quite high
2) The actual quality of the "perfect" inkjet printer wasnt to my liking the printing was slanted and the picture was bitty and out of contrast 3) When the printer is even slighty running out of ink the print comes out with lines on it i dont find that very satisfactory to be honest Good Things
1)The printer has an easy to use interface ... ...As you can see there are many more bad things than good so to be honest i wouldnt recomend buying this printer if your on a low cost budget and would like a reliable and good quality printer i would go with a dfferent manufacturer! Thanks for looking at my tutorial ! ...

Advantages: Cheap and Just As Good As Epson Disadvantages: May Affect waranty
The cost of inkjet cartridges is something that is close to my heart, and if I were to buy genuine Epson cartridges for my EpsonStylus D68 then it would cost me £25. This is an extortionate figure when you consider that that is half the cost of the printer!!!!!! So always on the hunt for a bargain I scoured the length and breadth of upper brook street in Manchester to find a suitable generic cartridge. The Mac and PC centre round the back of the Manchester Aquatic Centre had just that these babies cost me £12 for all four.........
The E611 (Black), E612 (Cyan), E613 (Magenta), E614 (Yellow) fit EpsonStylus D68 / D88 series and DX3800/ DX3850/ DX4200 / DX4800/ DX4850 printers and at £3 a piece they have the potential for being a veritable bargain, which floats my Scottish boat. Installing them into the printer is as easy as pie you ...
