Advantages: No need for a PC to print photos from digital cameras, good quality photos Disadvantages: Can't really think of any
EPSON STYLUS PHOTO 915
This is ideal for those who have digital cameras or need a new printer and do lots of desktop publishing.
Some of the features are:
Built in PCMIA card slot with two universal cardholders enabling most type of card to be used in this printer.
The ability to print photos without having to use a PC or other device
Good quality photo prints ...have owned both HP and Epson printers and whilst I have been happy with the print quality of both makes I found that the HP cartridges were much more expensive than the Epson.
The photos produced on this machine are brilliant, the quality of the photo is excellent and it’s really very simple to use. At around £20 for each of the cartridges (colour and black) for original Epson cartridges I feel this is very competitive.

You can adjust the quality of your printing by selecting the properties box when you select file print and this gives you a choice of automatic, photo enhance and custom. Another option on the same page is print speed this obviously affects the quality as well as the speed. I can honestly say that when printing from Word I use the speed option and it still looks good. I am a secretary and would not consider saying that the quality was good if I did not feel I could post a letter that had been printed in this mode.
A feature I like to use when printing photos is the print preview as this gives you the opportunity to cancel and print and not waste expensive photo paper if you do not like what you see.
This system is much easier than going through the rigours of uploading photos onto the PC and then printing from your usual printer.
It is possible to upload photos onto the PC and with ease, which is brilliant for storage, but if you do not want to do this then you can print directly from this printer without a PC.
If you have a digital camera do lots of prints it would be worth considering purchasing this type of printer as it makes life a lot easier.
Advantages: High quality printing for a relatively cheap printer. Disadvantages: Cartridge replacing, Photo card feature is confusing.
...day one. Unlike our other Epson printer, which seemed to die on us at random one day, the 915 has kept in good nick. Features.
Up to 7 pages a minute - obviously not going to compete with the laser models, but for an inkjet printer I find the speed is not a problem at all. However, if you're wanting to print many sheets at one time, then this might be an issue. This is for both colour and black and white, but presumably is on the lowest quality ... ...cheaply, more the fact that epson inbuild chips to the cartridges that make the printer stop working even when there is ink left in the cartridge. These chips work on the premise that each time you print a page the count goes down one, regardless of whether you've used black ink colour ink or both, or of how much you've used. This means you could be forced to replace a half full cartridge, which I consider a bit of a waste. There are machines around ...

The cartridges are very cheap for this printer, but that is because it does not come with a new head (these are permanently built in the printer).
As with most Epson printers, it is a bit noisy
