Advantages: excellent quality - perfect printing on most media including glossy Disadvantages: too expensive (priced the same as individuals) no savings for buying bulk
on mainly non glossy media then you are wasting your money by buying the original cartridges (sorry epson) can't justify the price difference even though the inks in T0487 are better than compatibles for such works.
HOWEVER:
If you want professional results especially with photographs and images, drawings etc then please I would have to recommend that you only use the original epsonT0487 for your printing needs the colour is much more vibrant and deep plus more importantly it dries very quickly staying put on the paper, this isn't so noticable on matt, copy, or even semi gloss but you try to use inferior inks on glossy then you are just throwing your money down the drain.
the EpsonT0487 inks will dry almost immediately and will not seperate (LIKE OIL & WATER) unlike inferior refills/comapatibles etc even when the paper says instant dry ...
Advantages: Clear colours Disadvantages: A bit pricey
Printers are marvellous things when they work!We bought an Epson DX4000 a couple of years ago after problems with our HP printer. It was reduced in Tesco and as it is a photo copier and printer we thought it was a bargain but decided to check out the cost of the cartridges before buying.
We have used various makes of cartridges over the years for previous printers but had been having problems and always having to clean to get good printing so we were wasting ink.
We got sample size cartridges with the printer but bought a Multipack so we were ready when a replacement was needed. The Multipack has 4 cartridges, 1 of each black, yellow, magenta and cyan. The box is blue with a picture of a Cheetah and is in the Cheetah range, there are other ranges like Monkey. Hummingbird and Seahorse makinh it easy to spot the one you want to buy ...
Advantages: great photo quality & long print run Disadvantages: expensive
over 500 sheets but obviously it all depends on what you are printing, I work in the digital imaging field and this series lasts alot longer that the black cartridges used in the D series printers for instance. The T0481 epsom cartridge holds 13ml of ink and like i said lasts noticably longer than many other cartridges

If printing on glossy photo paper I would recommend that you use only the original T0481 black cartridge to ensure the ink stays put on the paper, if you use ink that does not dry as fast and has a lower quality it will degrade even before the print has dried thus the picture would end up in the bin so don't waste your money on poor quality.
Photo quality prints demand the T0481 however if you just need to print on copy paper, text etc ...
