The TM-U590 is a high speed, multi-function slip printer designed for printing muti-part documents up to 88 columns in width. Best used for document printing, the TM-U590 will print up to 5 part copies for applications in hotels and restaurants as well as bank statements and shipping documents. The TM-U590 is supported by Epson's industry standard ESC/POS command system and is a Windows compatible product. A leader in the transaction processing industry, Epson has introduced its newest small POS printer, the TM-U590. Backed by Epson quality and reliability, the TM-U590 has a wide print column capacity of 88 and 66 columns, respectively. The TM-U590 features an internal customer display mount and is compatible with Epson's line of IT intelligent POS peripherals. The TM-U590 can be used in a wide variety of transaction processing applications with its wide slip capability which is ideal for A4 size documents. The printer hasMICR reading options and check validation. Other features include print fonts of 7x9 and 9x9, a print speed of 2.8 for the 88 columns of print and 4.9 for 40 columns and the capability to produce an original plus four copies for added convenience. ...Printers are marvellous things when they work!We bought an Epson DX4000 a couple of years ago after problems with our HP printer. It was reduced in Tesco and as it is a photo copier and printer we thought it was a bargain but decided to check out the cost of the cartridges before buying.
We have used various makes of cartridges over the years for previous printers but had been having problems and always having to clean to get good printing so we were wasting ink.
We got sample size cartridges with the printer but bought a Multipack so we were ready when a replacement was needed. The Multipack has 4 cartridges, 1 of each black, yellow, magenta and cyan. The box is blue with a picture of a Cheetah and is in the Cheetah range, there are other ranges like Monkey. Hummingbird and Seahorse makinh it easy to spot the one you want to buy...

Advantages: cheaper to buy 4 but can also buy singly Disadvantages: you have to look around for the cheapest as prices do vary
...We have a very good Epson DX6000 printer.
This printer takes 4 separate inks.
This comes in handy when just one colour gets low.
I know its low because when I go to do some printing I will get a low ink flashing sign come up and it will then show me how much ink is left and roughly how much copying I can do before it finally runs out. It will also tell me which ink is low.
I print off a lot of photographs so it is not just the black ink that runs out but the coloured ones as well.
When we first had the printer we did notice that some non epson inks were cheaper and we did think of buying them. We were then informed that if we used these on this printer that was still under guarantee they might refuse to honour the guarantee as we had not used their own brand of ink.
We therefore decided to stick to Epson...
